The first one involves a professional pool player who likes to warm up by juggling pool balls. It is reported that this activity awakens the mind, improves coordination and of course, that affects their level of play.

Any others? (Yeah, I know I didn't mention the player's name).

Used to have a young guy come in my pool room looking for action. When he found a game, the first thing he would do is run around the perimeter of the room about 6 laps. Then, he'd do about 5 minutes of stretching excercises ending with standing in one spot jumping about a foot up in the air for about a minute. Then, he grab his cue and say, "All righty then. Let play!"

Everyone that saw it for the first time had the same response: "What the hell?"

Whatever works for you.

LOL, that reminds me of the dart commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flP02rznSLE

Walter Lindrum

Walter and Harold Worst are the two players I would like to see play.
Walter would get off a boat from Australia, walk into a club, and run
maybe a thousand at English billiards.
The players would wonder how one could be on a boat for two weeks
(this was in the 30's) and play that good.

Walter always traveled with a set of billiard balls. He would play nursery
caroms on a leather seat or a table cloth so his arm was ready to play
when he got near a table.

The British call 'caroms' 'cannons'...
...they don't roll the 'r' so good....:)

Good post JoeyA.

I go to the restroom and spread my feet apart bend over and touch my toes about 10 times. It loosens my back and shoulders up. Also makes my lungs take in air better. Makes the blood flow to the head better too. I do not do this in the pool hall because I do not want people to think I am loosing it or something!

Lock N Load.

And no one asked, who is the pro player who juggles the balls before a match. You all surprised me.

One of the best players I know sits in his car in the parking lot for ten minutes before each match.

Myself, I can't do anything but listen to the inner voice chanting "you're gonna dog it". It's so brutal.

I always try to do several curls using Crown and Dr. Pepper. I find that after a few quick sets of at least 6-8 reps each that I enjoy my matches much more. I rarely, if ever, play without doing this!

I find I play better if I have a bit of nookie shortly before starting play. The problem is... I dont always get that option.

My "routine" is hit the restroom and wash my hands before every match. I can't play with dirty, sweaty, greesy (if eatting) hands.

I'd be surprised if a lot of players don't have this as part of their pre-match routine.
