Has anyone played on this before? If so, what are the rules?

They also make a Y table. I did have a better picture, but I can't find it.

I rememer th Z

I remember the ad when it first came out. Never played on one. I remember also an oval table at the same time. I dont think they ever became popular. Would be fun to whack a feww racks on it.

ANyone else know how the rules went. :

I think 1 pocket, with each taking the farthest away pockets would be interesting...

Interesting.

Who is to say that the "standard" pool table with six pocket, 4 1/2 X 9' is the end all be all of pool tables? I know it takes away for the tradition and history of the game, but the game is supposed to be for fun, right?

I've played on one a few times at Sam's Speak Easy in Gulfport, IL. The rules (8 ball) were pretty much the same but the balls were racked different. I can't remember exactly how, but the balls were split up and racked in a circle in two different spots on the table. It was easy to break both clusters up with one shot. It was fun to play on and made for some interesting bank shots.

Ahhh, Sams I know it well used to bar back there. The rules when we played there were, ball in hand, the rack was 3 solids 4 stripes on one spot 8 ball on the middle spot 4 solids 3 stripes on the remaining spot break from either end , if hit right it is esy to make the 8 on the break I beleive the record is like 10 or more, last I heard at Sam's prety fun table, gott have real good cue ball control pretty easy to find one of the 10 pockets.

I think I've seen:

Oval with pockets
Rectangle with four pockets
Circle with one pocket
Casket-shaped with six pockets (might be a fantasy)

There used to be a website that had just about every odd shaped billiard table.

I assume the rules are:

Shoot da balls into da holes.

LOL. I think banking would be tricky. Wow, fantastic tables; they look fun. The Z table photo was taken at the Lion's Den in Vegas.

We were just talking about the z shaped one on m y local APA forum, I would love to play some 9 ball on that. Imagine the safties you could play so easily, plus a jump shot could clear off the outside of the table and come back onto it at the indented corners.

My buddies dad lived in Ft. Madison and we'd go fishing there every summer. We'd hit the bars in Burlington and always end up at Sam's. You are right, I remember 8 ball breaking being easy. I could do it about 1 out 3 breaks and it always po'd the other guy playing because it was a dollar table back when $.50 was the going rate on a regular table. What was the bouncers name, Gail? I dare you to make fun of his name, that guy had to be 10' tall and 800lbs!

Hey, I've been there. I went there a few times, when I was traveling through Burlington IA. The table are quite unique. The locals are real ringers at it though, so I didn't play on it. When I stay in Burlington I play at either Whitey's in Burlington or I drive to Galesburg and play at the Main Street Pool Hall.

I have a video transfered from reel to reel of Hoppe or ah heck I can't remember doing some shots of 3-cusion billiards on the round table. Hmmm, I wonder where the heck that thing is? I think it came from one Bert Kinister's Classic Player Videos. I wish I could remember which one it is on.
