Has anyone heard from this guy?

Long story short. Bought a cue over a year ago. Received it and the butt and shaft was warped. Contacted him and he said he would warranty the cue and have a new one made up. I decided to pay for an additional shaft and also different material for the ferrule. Months had passed and the Philippines had been hit with some bad rain storms. I gave him time and just wanted updates. About a month ago I emailed him again and he said it would be done soon. No word from him since then. This has been over a year now of going back and forth.

I think its time to say I want my money back.

I have an experience with Les Lacson on the past..and it's not a great experience too. But, yes he did delivered my cue at the last. I know he is Friend with Anito Kid and Linds. Maybe you and other who looking for Les can ask Anito Kid to help you out.

Hi Allen,

I am out of commission for a while and I haven't been on-line for the past weeks or so. I have explained and asked for indulgence and I do respect your side. I can not do anything about things beyond my control. I offer no excuse now and I believe you are right in your terms. I will process your refund but for the last time, I humbly ask for your indulgence as I can not refund right here right now as I will take this out of my own pocket. I will return half this end of month, then half by end of next month. I only have my meager office work salary to get this from. I, or we may be poor, but we won't rob anybody of their money. After full refund, no need to return the cue we shipped.

Since this is public, I would take this opportunity to do a public disclosure as well. We are not perfect and we accept that fact but we try our best to provide within the limitations we face. Delays have been caused by uncontrollable instances like weather disturbances which really hamper production, and of course the cuemaker's state of physical conditions. People get sick also. People experience personal tragedies - bebot's niece was in a tragic accident and had both legs amputated. Just imagine the stress it put in the man's heart and mind. I don't think anybody can just pick up his chisel and work as if nothing happened the next day. It is not the first time I get harsh remarks due to some delays, I get cursed, called son of a b*tch, I was accused of a scammer, a robber, a scumbag, you name it. I just absorb them quietly, though it hurts as I am also a human being. At the time when we were hit by a super typhoon, the shop was under waist-deep water, no power (electricity) for more than 2 weeks, and everything was a standstill... what can we do. There was even a time when I got a comment that "I hope nobody dies again in your family as it will just be another excuse for you". It was Q3 last year when my father in-law died and I failed to communicate for a while. How worse could it be for someone to receive a comment like that, knowing you have no control of the circumstances.

But at the end of the day, i chose this path and I still firmly believe that the customer is always right, and I rather choose to resolve issues than go around them. It's just sad that at times resolution doesn't come as fast as I hope it would.

For almost 3 years since late 2008 since I came around in the business, we have shipped more than a hundred cues. If we intend to scam, we would have been US$20K-30K richer now. No business is perfect. We all encounter bumps on the road. The important thing is to be given the chance and to be able to resolve.

For all those with pending orders, all plain janes are on track, those higher value cues we will finish and deliver starting by this mid-year until the end of the year. I haven't posted recent ones as my work limits my internet access but last week alone we have finished and shipped 6 cues. Latest is the 4-pointer 4-veneer ivory inlays ivory hoppe ring. We are working double-time to catch up and fulfill our commitments, and so we will.

Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience.

Sgd.

Les, I'm sorry to hear all your missfortunes. About the climate situation, Typhon, Flood. But as you understand. Me in Indonesia also have to deal with such as climate. When there is a rain over than 1 hour. My area must be drown with flood.

But, why you have to promise your customer such a short time to deliver your cue. I just don't get it. If you estimate your cue will be done for 6 month, why you have to promise your customer for 6 month too. You can promise your customer for 1 year or 9 months maybe. it's must help you alot.

And when you take order, please note down every detail what your customer want and order. My bebot cue end up with a different joint pin with my order and different weight also. It's not okay with me, but i understand sometime people forget about something in his work.

Dedy

I fully understand. The time frame we have given before were applicable during that time and without foreseeing uncontrollable instances. Production estimates were within reach. We have made cues in time or even earlier more than not. It's just that it is a reality that even if you have 100, 200, 300 good accomplishments, it will always be the 1, 2, or 3 shortcomings that will be highlighted and will be talked about. But as I am relatively new to this industry, I have learned some lessons. Now my priority is catch up and resolve. Then I will put up new guidelines as to the timeline so we could anticipate any humps ahead. This is part of our growing pains. But what is important is how we improve on this and improve we will. We do not deny our shortcomings and we will never find fault in the customer, unless it is really the customer's fault.

I will be off-line again for a while as I will rather spend time in attending to the orders and all for speedy resolve. I am just here, all my contact details I have posted time & again, and those whom I have talked to, they know I even call customers overseas just to say hi and hello.

Les

I have a couple cues scheduled for initial delivery sept 10' that are still not delivered.

I have had no issue contacting Les and he has reponded shortly after each PM. In fairness I have confirmed the bad rains in his area and completely understand that they probably do not have the controlled environments we enjoy in the states.

If it takes a little longer it is a little frustrating but I would like to thank you for your continued communication in such trying times.

I will post pics of my purchase as I hope all of you do.

good luck everyone

Thanks for replying Les. I had/have no intentions in calling you a scammer etc. I just needed to find out what was going on. I had sent a few PMs asking the status and I never heard back. I am very sorry for all the hardships that you and Bebot have gone through. Sometimes personal life circumstances are rough and can take a toll on someones willingness to work and move forward.

Please let me know how and when the funds will be refunded through PM. I'm deeply sorry that I am no longer in want of the cue. From a business perspective it is not in my best interest to continue waiting. I'm sure the cue will be sold to a deserving owner.

When the time is right I will one day request to have another Bebot cue made and do business with you Les.

I paid this guy $420 for a cue that was supposed to take 6 months. Its been almost 2 years and I don't have anything yet. There's always a different excuse all the time.

did the OP already got the refund?

I'm coming up on 1.5 years. I've received 1 partial payment. I'm not saying it is false but he did mention that he's had bad weather in PI and also trying to make ends meet. I'm waiting on my 2nd payment.

And by the way Dedy...it is a really nice cue. I like it and plan on putting an LD shaft on it and using it. Nice weight and balance, gorgeous woods too.

Les,

For 2 Months now I have emailing you with the same question (What's the status of my Cue?) and for 2 Months I have not gotten any answers or photos of my cue in progress. I am throughly dissatisfied with the level of customer service I have received to date. Against my better judgment I paid for this cue up front which is a mistake I will never make again.

As far as I am concerned at this point I only want a refund of my money. If Bebot has even started on my cue you should post it on AZ Billiards when it's finished and sell it for what ever you can get for it.

Please refund $930 USD to my paypal address jimmy36sparky@yahoo.com

Well. i'm happy for you Lee.. it'is very nice to know that you like the cue..

I can not play with it. Every time i look at the cue, i always dissapointed and i can not play well.

I ordered an entire set last year in February to be finished in November. Unfortunately, as it became December... I decided to mail them. I also got feedback about the climate. Two months ago, give or take, I got the first pics of the wip of my cues. Mervin is now doing the buttsleeve of the final cue and sent pics. Mervin told me they're way behind on schedule and they're trying to work as fast as they can. I'm just praying my cue won't warp from what I read here...

So he seems to be MIA for a few weeks again and his inbox is maxed out. Is it raining every single day in the Philippines? Is he still selling cues as we speak?

I can totally understand if money is tight. All I want is a reply and acknowledgement.
