Therese has accepted Mazin's challenge. Verhoeven has come forward to pay Therese's airfare. Mazin and Therese are working out the dates for the Challenge Tour.

Please contact your poolroom if you would like to schedule this exhibition match with a U.S. National Champion against the Women's World Champion. Dates will be announced in conjunction with the World Cup and the U.S. Nationals. (April-May)

The only thing Mazin and Therese is asking for is for each room to take care of their motel room and meals( approx $150). Any contributions to this Challenge Tour would be appreciated. Contact Mazin. They would appreciate anything you can contribute. Good luck to both competitors!

First, this sounds like it would be a great match & glad that Therese is agreeing to Mazin's challenge. However, I thought Mazin was saying he would play Therese for a money match, but maybe I'm wrong:

This sounds more like a funded exhibition so I'm a little confused. Either way it would be cool to see live.

Let me answer you in a very obtuse way. Talking about wagering money (gambling) while a sponsor or sponsors may be involved(Verhoeven / USBA) would not be very smart legally.

I didn't say there is a bet did I Dave?

I still think the Idea of Therese VS Mercedes is Stronger than Therese vs Mazin.


We have to show that women play the game in the US besides 2 , 3 or 4 play the game.

that's again my POV.

Hey Gilbert,

I left a message for Mercedes some time ago. There is no reason that at some point during The Challenge Tour, Mercedes can't participate!

Might someone call her and have her contact me.

Hi Steve,

I don't know, it's just how I interpreted the challenge. Maybe I'm just jaded from reading all the barking that goes on in this forum :).

It sounds like a great event - kudos to you and Bill Smith for instigating this, I hope it happens.
