Hello fellow AZ'rs...I just purchased TAP league for Greene and Jasper County in SW Missouri...unfortunately the previous owners did not live up to their obligations and the members suffered...at last count appx 95% never received their monies and prizes due them.

My summer session starts June 18th. I am trying to come up with some moral boosters to restore the faith in pool, and Tap here locally...I plan to use my own money to purchase cues, cases, and assorted accessories to be given away to league members in a random draw...if anyone out there has any other ideas on what would help turn the league around and finish the summer on a positive note, PLEASE post it here or PM me.

Thanks.

If you are buying cues, you might consider calling Dale Perry and asking if you can get a package deal.

I don't know what TAP is. But in my business when we buy a property that's in the ruts we change the name. Get a new logo, give it new life. Invest like you are doing. Setup a facebook page, get your members to sign up. Setup your TAP business on Google Local, Bing local, Yahoo local, and yellowpages.com. Have your member enter comments about what you want to do. Start with a raffle to get people in the door, it could be a cue or just gloves or chalk or go on from there. See if you can post at a local pool hall or bar when you are doing your next gathering.

You can also try posting in craigslist.org.

It's a start.

All I have to say is...good luck! Call Kelly and she can give you some ideas.

So money wasn't paid out for title holders?

This would not be good....

Maybe you could get the hall(s) to sponsor the league and add in a little something extra for payouts. I'm sure that the extra people drawn to this would more than cover the added funds for the establishments, as well as kick off the new management and pull in more players.

Jon Travis, I wish you the best of luck in your efforts. Lots of competition for players in the area. Please don't overdo it on Sprfld Pool Players - we just went through the great league war discussions there and I think everyone is a little tapped out (pun intended).

My two cents

If I was a person in your league I would expect a couple things to keep me playing in your league.

First, an explanation of how the money was stolen. Was there no accountability / escrow with national tap organization? What will be done in the future to make sure it never happens again? Is anything being done through the courts to get the prize money from the previous owner?

Second, tell me about yourself. It would be helpful to know who you are, tell me about your background, hobbies, family, reason for purchasing the league, plans for the future. All this lets me look at you as a person trying to help not just a salesman trying to sell their league.

Hope this helps and good luck with your business.

If I was in your area, getting the girl in your avatar to show up might be added incentive!!!

Also do you give awards for things like break and runs or skunks (wins match without losing a game). Giving out patches for impressive things can get people excited.
