On the occasions I've sliced myself with a nice, sharp chisel, I'm always sure to wipe off the knife and put a little oil on it before doing anything else. Blood rusts steal almost instantly...learned that lesson the hard way.

Another good thing to prevent rust in a shop is the white powder we put on our hands while playing pool. Put a little on the surface, rub it around and it's good to go.
No one wants a new machine to rust. No one wants oil seeping into their wood work. In 20+ years with machines, not one single spot of rust has ever been seen.
Super fine talcum powder on the shiny metal prevents rust.
