Saw a similar thing happen a few months ago in my local room.
A young international visitor was spending a long holiday in the states before heading back home. He practiced everyday day and I put him about a 600. He had just finished playing an old dog local 14-1. Another old dog saw him practicing the break and rolled on over and asked him if he could show him a break where you can bank the corner ball out of the rack to the top corner.
Before the young man could say yes, the old dog grabbed his $10k Musashi (had just acquired from NYC) and hits the head string. Pow! Misses. Reload, POW! Makes… tosses the stick on the table like he just won a major. It was all I could do to keep my mouth shut. Of course the kid said nothing and was incredibly polite.
