I had a lady student with the same problem.
On her final stroke, she was going back to the middle of the cue ball. She dipped the cue on follow shots and raised up it on draw shots. I had to video tape her to prove it to her as she did not believe me.
Just make sure you are hitting the cue ball on the final stroke where you are aiming on your practice strokes with a fluid smooth stroke and a good follow through as close to level with the playing surface. Don't be afraid of getting off the middle of the cue ball. Remember, the less body movement, the better, other than the shooting arm.
