ps i know there is countless jokes that can be made from a thin butt thread, and you are very clever for thinkin of it. please post a couple helpful posts first. thanks.

Slimline butt

I have a Shurtz custom cue that has a slimline butt.
I like it to play with, but I like a normal butt to break with.
I think overall, it is a little more comfortable for me to
play with. I do not have small hands for my size (5'7").

Custom

I had a cue made and specified the thin butt. I have short fingers and the thinner butt helps me a lot.

I have smaller hands than some and prefer a smaller diameter butt. I didn't realize any difference until I just happened tried one by chance. I can't imagine it could make any difference, I think it is just a comfort thing.

Funny we were just talking about this ...

I was in a discussion yesterday about this. I said it is one of the most common changes in all sports.

Baseball, Tennis, and pool.

My Tad is the thinnest. Probably why it feels best in my hands. I had to use my Gina, for a couple of days and definitely felt the difference.

I also think that this because I have smaller hands. I suggest it is trending this way from cuemakers, as the norm as 13mm is trending for a tip.

I think there are a few factors that go into determining what grip size is best for you.

How big are your hands?
How do you grip the cue?
Are you stiff wristed or flippy wristed player..and what style do you prefer?

I personally have hard time controlling a large grip diameter cue.

I also think it plays a factor in the overall balance of a cue.

In combination with grip diameter, you need to determin the wrap you like.

I have an Adams version Balabushka, and it has a smaller butt. I love the ways it plays. If you have never shot with one of these cues, I would highly recommend that you try one. Beautiful cues, and they shoot great.

I have tiny hands compared to most on here. I shoot with a Schon and always loved it. It has a thinner butt taper than most. My Schick titlist also has a thin butt taper. Nearly all my cues do. My point is, you have to do a whole lot of hunting down to really see what feels better in your hand. Stay away from McDermotts, they tend to be thick butted.
