Still crazy after all these years

Williebetmore has recently posted the official scoring thread for the 2008 BreakUp DriverMaker Memorial Holiday Tournament over in the BUD BOWL subforum, so let the games begin :D

To illustrate the company you'll be in should you decide to participate this year I could find nothing better than breakups words (and a picture too) from 2005 (in a thread about the very few acceptable excuses for non-participation, all of which seemed to have something to do with being dead) .....

<from breakups post titled :>

No arms ,no legs, no problem.

This is the tenacious spirit that charactizes our little fraternity.

It?s just a flesh wound! Come back here & I?ll bite your knee caps off.

He didn?t make excuses, The Black Knight would be in the club.

From the same thread ...

Hey, that thread has me almost in tears ... breakup suggested that when you took your grandkids to see Santa you might hear :

"What do you want for Christmas little Jimmy" "I wanna PlayStation 9 Williebetmore game with the automatic pattern advisor and a Drivermaker action figure that yells "You are a friggin MORON to use that Predator shaft" when you pull his string!!"

Here, see for yourself : http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=21954

Last, but certainly not least, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving all you friends south of the border.

Dave, been there done that .... just a few weeks back :)

Thanks, Dave.

I woke up last night thinking of the memorial tournament, wondering if it would happen this year, and figured we should include Breakup's name in the title.

Great minds think alike....and so do ours. :D

Quite a few have had that thought, and Willie came up with an outstanding acronym, the BUD bowl .... of course as an engineer/network guy I just love acronyms, especially TLAs :) ... and a big thanks to Mike for adjusting the subforum name so quickly.

Now for the hard part ... I just checked, and currently the members showing enough cahones to enter include Soundwaves, Hal, RiverCity, and myself .... and williebetmore also signed on .... but no chefjeff so far :( I assume that is simply an oversight or perhaps you just haven't got there yet ... you'll get the benefit of doubt for a day or two.

Dave, pardon my spanish

Oh please, you actually think I wouldn't enter? Even if my meager scores pale in comparison to you hot shooters I wouldn't miss a chance to participate.

Like Breakup said.... the only excuse for not playing is if your dead.

If you're hospital bound, I'm sure you convince the nurses to wheel you to a pool hall, or at the very least a computer terminal where you can use the freeform practice on pool game at www.pogo.com.

No excuses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pardon my stupidity, but I can't find that subforum...please link me, man.

I'm in, if I can just find that "pool hall"...where is the thread? Where's the official announcement? Where the hell did I put my cue?

You are a good person SoundWaves.

If you can't find your cue jeff let me know and I'll send you one (I'll cut a house cue in half for shipping, but will include a couple of wood screws and a Robertson screwdriver for reassembly, you may have a tough time finding one of those down there).

For all of the gutless wonders who are considering non-participation, here is a quote from breakup last year:

"It's that time of year again to separate the players from the sweaters. As we all know not all members participated last year. In the defense of the nearly 7400 members that did not participate in the DMMHT last year, it was understandable. It was an undertaking that required at the minimum;guts, backbone, heart, and cahones to participate. As we all know this planet is infested with gutless wonders that are powerless to step up and walk the talk, that all too common condition becomes painfully apparent when a defining moment presents itself. The Drivermaker Holiday Invitational is such a moment. For those of you that did not participate last season, you have lived with the shame, hopefully the offending condition that prevented participation last year has cleared up and redemption is near; all that needs to be done is step up and rumble with the AZ elite in The Drivermaker Holiday Invitational. For those of you that did not get that much needed spine transplant or the cahone donor failed to come through and you don't play again this year it's understandable; the world is full of spineless, gutless, no-heart blowhards. You won't be in good company but there will be lots of it.

For those of you that have what it takes to answer the bell:

Let's get ready to RUMBLE!!!

...bear in mind all members will be judged in this event, nonparticipation is not hiding.

I for one am a gutless wonder who is planning to participate... two questions though...

By when do we need to get our numbers in.. and do we need to shoot the 5 sessions consecutively in one sitting?

Edit: oops posting this to the subforum...

Attendance in the BUD seems a little low so far. Are we surrounded by people that like to type about pool and never play? Just a bump for the Sunday crowd.

Wave-man,
It is simply MIND-BOGGLING how many of the members will post about their hours a day of practice, or their exploits of days of continuous gambling; but they just can't seem to find the time for a measly 50 racks.

It is a great event that will tell you a lot about your own game, and a lot about your fellow members games. It definitely helps promote a sense of community here.

I noticed when we played the Q-Skill Challenge at DCC (with REAL prize money, and NO entry fee), there were a lot of members who did not play. Many are afraid to expose their game; but damn....it's just a game. Let's play.

I can not be counted as one of the "gutless wonders", but you can count me as one who wonders why he posted those terrible scores. LOL:o :(
