Has anyone tried this, and if so how well did you do? Rack the balls for a regular 9 ball rack, then take the last six balls, and put three in the bottom corners of the rack. Break from behind the head string, whatever drops stays down, and run out the 1 (or the lowest number ball) through 9 ball. You can carom off the obstacle balls or even combo them in to keep your run alive, just hit the lowest ball first.

My first instructor told me about this drill and claimed that he had run a three pack. I just want to know how easy this sounds to some of our stronger AZers. To me it's tough to just run the first 4 balls doing this.

Lemme see if I have it straight... it's like 9 ball, but with 3 'wild balls' that serve as obstacles (but they occasionally might help keep a run going via a carom or combo)?

It doesn't sound much harder than regular 9 ball depending on how the break went. I mean, people run 15 in rotation and 8 out of rotation when there's a full rack of balls to dodge around.

I consider running out at all to be somewhere north of 'easy' in 9 ball though so I'd say whatever you're doing is at least "medium". But I'm not such a strong player so maybe you should get some other input.
