Escott Cues
Doesn't matter. Just plain tap water. Using a Q-tip and curling iron is more precise, so you only affect the bad spot and leave the rest of the shaft alone.Hot, Warm, or Cool water?

One thing to add.I use a curling iron to steam out the occasional ding. Works on compression dings. If any wood is notched out, then that’s another story(only happened to me once).
Agreed, but I keep the booze in the glass and use the curling iron to do the same as it steams out any remaining moisture. One thing to add.
Once the “compression ding“ has expanded to slightly higher than the cue surface, use a smooth glass (a glass reserved for good whiskey works best) to compress the fibers back down even with the surface of the cue.
Then smooth/burnish/polish as you prefer…
Try finishing the shaft using 3000 grit paper…….you only get dust from the shaft and it’s smooth.
Then hit it with 2 coats of Renaissance Wax. Boy, you will be amazed how the shaft actually glides
in a closed and open bridge. 3000 grit polishes the wood, then leather burnish the shaft & wax it.
There are many versions or marketers of this product. It appears the manufacturer just brands it for whoever is wanting to sell it under their own brand name. Anybody interested in buying some can search google for "cue burnishing film paper" and you will see a wide variety of suppliers selling the product branded under various different names. They use to sell Micro Burnishing Films, 2,000 - 7,500 Grit.
They were reusable by rinsing in stream of water.
