Thompson Custom Sneaky pete cue on ebay ??

I'd say that since it's not much more than a Dufferin sneaky you might as well try it out. Worst case scenario, if you don't like it and the maker won't work with you, you can sell it and probably won't lose too much on it.

> A friend bought one of these recently, and for what he is asking, you can't possibly get hurt. He had it lightened up to 18 oz,super thin butt, and 13.25 shaft,no extra charge. It is basically a decent quality house cue butt, cut off and fitted for a joint. His has a 3/8-10 brass screw, obviously lathe cut,as this didn't have the highly polished appearance of a premade pin like Atlas or Prather sells, the very tip of it had been filed flat, and you can still see file marks in it. The fit is nice and tight, and although the joint collars fit nice and tight,is not sanded and matched perfectly, and there are visible glue lines under the collars, but these are mere aesthetic flaws, what can you expect for this kind of money? Hit wise,it hits real similar to a Southwest, nice and stiff, but with the awesome Sumo tip that was installed,is very crisp at the same time. As far as durability, this cue will NOT come apart on you,my friend told me to take it to a local tournament and "torture test" it,I did just that and had no problems,it didn't warp, nothing came loose or made noise, and it broke the balls nicely. In this price range, your choice is either one of these or a CueTec or Viper. Tommy D.

It makes no difference

I played a tournament last summer with a 90 dollar cuetec. I placed second in a field 0f 38. I would say ruffly 75 percent of the players had a 314 shaft. The point is don't get hung up on how much a cue effects your game. It is th practioner that counts. Your stroke has nothing to do with the cue. The only real concern I would have about my cue is the condition of the tip.

Hope this helps.....

LMAO similar to a SouthWest!! That's comical, durable? even funnier! I bought one off him before just to keep in the truck in case I wanted to hit a room at lunch one day well it never made it that far. A., it had a shitty feel and worse hit, B., I shattered the shaft on my 5th break shot, so after 4 racks I can say, STAY AWAY

I read one of his auctions where someone asked a question about the price of a new cue because the individual had left the cue in a car overnight (a single night) and the cue warped. I'm just wondering what an individual purchasing one of his cues thinks the life expectancy of $80 cue should be. In college I unknowingly left a Huebler I owned overnight in trunk while it was snowing and when I got it out two days later it was no worse for the wear. It just makes me wonder what people think they are getting for $80. I wonder if it is because it is a "custom", more people are drawn to it.

Yea, that was kind of the point of my last post. For some reason I was just curious about this cue and the builder (maybe because I keep seeing the cues for sale on ebay), so when I saw this thread I had to jump in.
