Thought I'd give a Predator Revo 12.4 a shot.

Pun intended. I recieved the Revo today from Seyberts and must say customer service was excellent.

A little background on me. I started playing about 30 years ago, me and my dad played Tournaments & League together for about 20years are APA team went to St.Louis to play in Nationals once and Vegas 3 times. I played with a Joss West for 15 years until I was 40 then I got married, wife hated me going out playing... so I quit playing. Fast forward 15 years... my dad passed away about a 11/2 years ago, my wife asked for a divorce a week after my dads funeral. Also my Joss West was stolen from my house about 5 years ago.

So, I decided to start playing again. My Mom gave me my dads Cues... a McDermott D11 and a Predator that has to be about 15-17 years old, along with the 314 shaft and an OB-1 first generation shaft. Sorry for the long winded history.

So, I've been playing with the Predator & OB-1 Shaft for about 3 months now and must say it plays lights out. I decided to drink the koolaid and I bought a Revo 12.4 and I've put about 5 hours in on it and my first impression is meh. I know it will take a bit to get used to it... I have a month to decide if I like it or not. I'm just wondering if I should go with me first impression and send it back or should I give it some time. The Predator with the OB -1 is fantastic. Opinions are welcomed. Sorry for the long post.

I been playing with vantage took some time off pool just getting back I bought the revo also just to try and I my self like the vantage more idk if it’s feel thing or I’m just used to vantage but the revo is for sale just didn’t notice that much improved to keep it maybe it’s just me

I'm on agreement here. Tried the revo 12.9 for about 6 months, went back to the vantage. Same ld properties, "more feel" using vantage. I have triangle tips on both these shafts btw.
My 2 cents on cf shafts: if you've been playing with wood for decades, use a wood ld shaft.
But if you're relatively younger/newer player, give cf a hard try.

Shot with the Revo for another 3 hours tonight... starting to get a feel for it. I've been away from playing for about 15 years, so I thought this would be a great time to play with a CF shaft. I just need to find my stroke... it comes and goes.

Yah, definitely give it a try. And lose the soft tip imo. Maybe try a medium of some sort. Hope it turns out well for you!
 
If you are comparing and are used to the OB and the older 314, the Revo is a way different performing and feeling cue. OB shafts with the wood ferrules are on a different scale of hit feel totally from the Revo, you can probably put them on opposite sides, one is stiff and mechanical feeling stock, one is soft and flexible and feels like natural wood, because it is LOL

Putting on another pad on the Revo and trying another tip will help if you don't like the sound and hit feel.
 
It takes some time getting used to the Revo even if you previously used a 314. I find that the Revo transfers more energy to the tip for the same stroke and so it will take some time adjusting.

Just my opinion as amateur pool player.
