Thoughts on a 1976 9 foot, Brunswick wellington.?

Looking to put a 9 foot table in my garage for local matches/streaming and Action. We already do this at another location just expanding options.
I ultimately want a Diamond or new gold crown but that has to wait. Someone has the table in the heading. In decent shape no photos its apart in a storage locker I went and looked at it. It is the table posted. 1 inch and has pinned 3 piece slate. thoughts, Some of you may remember these tables?

I had an oversized 8 one of these for years and it played just fine. Not much to look at with plastic corners and particle board skirts.

Yea that was one of the things I did not love about it. The rest is solid wood though, My concern is does it play like a Gold crown as it appears built very similar.

No plastic on a Wellington.

I had one and it was better than not having a table!

It uses t-bolts to secure slate to top and the pockets have slates that are rounded at the mouths.

Huge pockets too.

Where's Mr bond when you need him?

Pretty sure he has the newer take. Decent table but not on the same planet with the OG table.
Is that why it says 1976 in the title? D'oh

Re older one ..

Those corners are plastic I'm pretty sure IIRC and the skirts are particle board. That is the exact table I had. I extended the sub rails the pockets were buckets. The name was indeed recycled. The one I had was purchased new by my dad in the early 70s.

it was the home owners gold crown. they built it similar with same good slate and cushions.
definitely perfect for a garage. and home practice. forget about big pockets. that only helps you get better as you can fudge them and get position. plus its more fun .

It IS more fun to beat the 12b ghost on a Wellington than lose to the 9b ghost on a diamond.

Confirmed.

It is the newer one. We haven't agreed on a price yet. I was trying to figure out best low end value, he wants it gone and is it worth the 6-800 to set it up. I have table mechanic friends.

Hold out for a good used gold crown.
Once yoy get a mechajic to set it up...fix rails/pockets and pay for cloth/supplies getting a good deal on a cheap table is not so appealing. Plus nothing that isn't a heavy commercial table will ever play like one.

Can get used gold crowns for 500 to 1000

Cheap GC's are getting TUFF to find. Prices for crap in need of re-build are even getting crazy. There are the nugget barn-finds but its rare. $3grand is about the starting point for a decent one.
