Thoughts on a 1976 9 foot, Brunswick wellington.?

400 for the wellington is a bargain for a great home table.
if you want a commercial professional one, wait for one to pop up and spend a lot more. and most will be beat up as they came from a pool room at some time in their past.

if you want a table with little pockets to practice shot making on then you wont find one in the ads and will have to customize it.

old quality tables are the best looking furniture wise and with bigger pockets more fun to play on except those thinking the table needs to be pro tough.
and only want to play on it themselves.

Would never consider a antique table
It's not an antique. The original wellington was but this one is a 70s table.

I gave mine to the foreman of the Mexican drywall crew who whipped out my house in 2 days. I had moved a wall to make room for a nine footer in the remodel. Dude was thrilled!

2-4 hundred sounds about right

They don't come up often but brunswick made one called the "medallion" which had the structure but not the cosmetics of the Gold Crown. It was a step up from the wellington.

Desmond Allen has a room full of them when he opened a room here on the coast before fleeing to PA.

It is the newer one. We haven't agreed on a price yet. I was trying to figure out best low end value, he wants it gone and is it worth the 6-800 to set it up. I have table mechanic friends.

If this is the table you are considering, I would not invest $6-800 in rails and cloth. Get that table for $200 or free and play on it until you can find a good table.

I used to play where they had a mix of Medalists and Gold Crowns. Sometimes it was hard to remember which you were on. All drop pockets, 1995 installation.

Desmond Allen wrote a book about banking. I had no idea he had a pool hall.

Looking to put a 9 foot table in my garage for local matches/streaming and Action. We already do this at another location just expanding options.
I ultimately want a Diamond or new gold crown but that has to wait. Someone has the table in the heading. In decent shape no photos its apart in a storage locker I went and looked at it. It is the table posted. 1 inch and has pinned 3 piece slate. thoughts, Some of you may remember these tables?
How much? Reason I ask is I think the Wellington is ugly and no where near as good as a GC. You can find GC's for as low as $750 ish.

Here's a GC on FB.

This table is for sale at a local Estate Sale here in Michigan. Gold Crown 1. It's a 9ft table. Tomorrow it will be $750

Des was up here on the Southern Oregon Coast for a couple of years and opened a hall down the road in Bandon Oregon at a shopping mall. He spent a lot of time with the kids and had some good events. Ultimately no food or drink which seems to be the downfall of so many.

Desmond was getting certified to be a BCA instructor while he was here and the last phase of the procedure was to perform a live lesson with two students. I was one of them and it was my first formal lesson ever. I believe he is teaching pool to this day and that was 30 years ago.

I thought his book was well presented and still have the copy he signed and gave to me that night. Very interesting man is.

No 750 GC's that are worth a shit. You can find them but they'll need a lot of work/parts. Better off just paying 3grand for a good one.
