Thoughts on a Schon cue

Hi all, I have this butt coming to me soon, just the butt, no shafts with it....

Looking for opinions on what I should do, I am not going to keep the cue. Should I be out there looking for matching shafts, or should I just sell it as is?

I THINK it is a Schon SP34, any opinions on rough value would also be much appreciated.

Lemme know what you think folks...





 
I would just buy a new Schon shaft for it. It will match up perfect then you have the whole cue. It looks like a nice cue. shaft should be around 140.00 new.
 
Not me.. selling cues isnt quite as easy as selling chocolates on valentines day. Id buy a decent but cheap shaft on ebay. But thats just me.

You tell the person you sell it to, the shaft is a decent playing shaft. You can always buy a better one and have this as back up.
 
Yeah, I had not even considered buying a new one. I thought I would try and find out what era the cue is from, then buy a decent second hand one that matches up. With it being a simple silver ring, I thought it would be easy enough. I guess I also have a brand new Vollmer shaft i could stick on it, but I don't think the value of the shaft would be reflected in the increase to the value of the package.

For a few bucks more this is the route to take, that looks like a pretty nice Schon making it a complete cue will make it easier to sell in a tough market.
 
I am a bit taken aback, there is a ton of interest in this cue!

I have promised first refusal to a certain AZer. If he turns it down, then I will go through the list of people who pm'd me about it in order of who contacted me first.

It was made between 1989-1992
 
Schon are probably the best production cue you can find and if it is from the 90's it would be considerably more desirable for many people. With so many shaft options out there a standard Schon shaft would be your best to complete the cue.
 
My impression is that Schon cues are bought by Schon aficionados (at least those willing to pay the highest price). They probably already have shaft(s) for it.
 
A selling point of schon is that all the shafts are the same diameter at the collar, any schon shaft will fit. There are many good used shafts out there.
