Thoughts on BCAPL Nationals

Over the past couple of weeks I heard from many different people both at the Nationals Event and also since getting back to Arizona about things that they liked and opportunities that could be addressed for future events.

Below is an Anonymous Survey that lists some of the items that were brought to my attention. Please select the items that you feel need some sort of change. Once I have compiled my complete list I will be working through some possible solutions to add to my full report back to the BCAPL.

Excellent poll!

My last scotch doubles match ended after 1 AM. My Super Senior schedule wasn't too bad. Four on Saturday. Our team played one match Wednesday, one match Thursday and, if my memory serves me, five matches on Friday before losing our second. I won't comment on the nine ball event as that was AFU!

One of the low points was having three matches scheduled on one table at one time. How that happened was beyond me. They finally moved my SS match into the small side room across from the main area. Another was the "free beer for a dollar" cry at the Tuesday "party":angry:. I'm not cheap but it sure pisses me off! Makes me not want to give them a dime.

Some of my requests at the kiosk's were met by "person unknown". I know they were there. I saw them. Just wanted to watch them. Thought it might be easier than looking them up manually. Technology is great. Perhaps too much is a bad thing!

In general, Rick and his Bad Boys crew did another excellent job. Mark and the BCAPL crew made everything flow. Must be a better way to work the payout desk though. Having to fill out the same paperwork over and over again is a bit much. Then again, having the opportunity to fill the paperwork out again and again is just fine with me!

For me, the single biggest improvement was the CTS online charts and player lookup.

I was able to look up my matches via my phone, or with the kiosk, as well as look up others to see how they were doing, find out which table they were at, when they play, etc. The charts updated almost real time.

I thought it was the best thing since the invention of fire.

Eric, I agree but they needed one additional bell/whistle to the website: The ability to create a buddy list. Doing so would allow people to input which friends they wanted to follow, and then each time they logged in to their "friend" page, it would show their friends' next match time and table. This would let you find all your information in one page.

This is a pretty easy addition so I'm hoping they build it...

Oh I agree, the charts and online presence is a Huge success and will only get better from here on out.

I also liked the fact that the Grand Masters had live Streaming by TAR and were right in the front 10 tables for everyone to see.
