Thoughts on the best way to remove tension when shooting in league/tournaments?

I think the worst thing for me to do is to make the game a pool larger than it really is. When you make something larger than life, it becomes more of a monster that can intimidate you. When you convince yourself of what I believe is the truth, that it is just a game, the best of your skill set will come out. It's a difficult place to get to for most people, but I think that's what it takes to get mentally ready to play pool. That doesn't mean you have to compromise your skill set and readiness, but if you cannot have fun playing a sport then you shouldn't be playing that sport at all. I'm sort of in that boat where pool is a mental thing, and always seems to be a struggle. So far this session in League I have been doing somewhat mediocre because my mental game has been suffering. This past week I said to myself "that this is just a game and don't let emotions dictate your skill set". Of the four games I played against my opponent I broken ran twice, sunk the eight ball on the third game, and the last match I won a close one. It just seemed like I was so in tune and ready to play not letting the moment cause stress, just enjoyment.
