3/8x12For a Tad from 1997. Making a joint protector for the shaft. No insert..tap into the material. What size is needed. Thanks.
thank you3/8x12
Mine cost a hundred 20 years ago. LolThis is the best that comes up for a decent price. It’s going to be used once. I might take a chance and buy it… hopefully it’s not a waste of money.
Was skeptical it is TOO CHEAPMine cost a hundred 20 years ago. Lol
22 bucks, not a waste of money!
Every tap/tool I have bought from Cuefits has been spot on so farWas skeptical it is TOO CHEAP. Would also feel better if it was a “Prime” item. Will follow up
Widell made most of mine. A couple of taps by North American. You cue builders, and anyone looking for tools should look at Industrial Tool Distributors.
I know its not like it used to be with family owned businesses being bought up but... even so.
There's tap manufacturers that specialize in specials. Most keep inventory of common specials. and nearly all keep blanks in stock.
When I was buying these tools, I normally received them within a week unless the order was a full special like a 13/64-4 drap (drill & tap)
Reaching back 35 years in my memory bank.
Regal Beloit Guess they're called Regal Cutting Tools now
Widell Industries
I think it is already copyrighted.I was asked to make a joint protector for a Tad shaft. I'm buying this tap for a one & done item. No charge for the JP as it's good friend. He offered to pay for the tap but I'm the world's best friend here.I might write a book on How To Go Broke With A Lathe.
Depending on your lathe (and mill and tool grinder) you might invest some time and learning instead of dollars.I was asked to make a joint protector for a Tad butt. Thanks for posting. I like the snow plow demo. I have a MidAmerica lathe bore repair lathe and Jet 1221.Depending on your lathe (and mill and tool grinder) you might invest some time and learning instead of dollars.
Once done making and using the tap you can sell it. Apparently they are worth over a hundred$$$, but likely will net you only a few dollars per hour.
Dave -- ground a donated pin (thanks to Mr. Barry Cameron) into a tap for a single use job (it's still in the jump cue that will not jump)
Quite the dilemma.Next up... has been asked x amount of times... Where to get pins for the male JP. Also a maintenance driver/arbor.
Can the tap be used as a mandrel for turning the female JP? I might use linen phenolic or acrylic.
Or a live threader and my flat bottom thread bitDepending on your lathe (and mill and tool grinder) you might invest some time and learning instead of dollars.

Yep. CNC live threading is the ultimate in flexibility. And the cutters for wood are easier to make compared to making a tap !Or a live threader and my flat bottom thread bit
Thanks for your comments... It's just as well. It always cost me more than it's worth. I have an idea using a cheap plastic JP. Will follow up. Happy Holidays to you...have fun and be safe.Only 4 Cue maker I know of using the 3/8x12 joint screws.
I have them for repairs and restorations.
I DON'T GIVE OR SELL THEM TO ANYONE!
One is over seas, it's undersized a lot and the screw is in the shaft, the Butt has a brass joint.
Mr. Bob Manzino but his is more of a flat bottom screw.
Tad of course. GOOD LUCK
Fred is a first date and don't give up anything.
Mr Martinez in Colorado,
That might be an option if he'll sell you anything.
Good Luck
Merry Christmas
