Threads with WEI table causes computer to crash

Today when I tried to open a thread called "Thin cut shots" my computer crashed. This thread happens to have embedded WEI table images. This isn't the first time that my computer has crashed when I try to open threads with multiple WEI table images.

It appears that Shockwave is a memory resource hog and if you have other applications open, then there is the potential for a computer crash.

Are other users in this forum encountering similar problems with the WEI table?

Does someone know who the WEI Table developer is and his email address? I'd like to contact him about this. THX.

I used to have trouble loading threads with imbedded tables too, but not to the degree of a crash. It was a problem with installing the Shockwave program though; maybe it's unrelated.

It's a problem with the way Shockwave is working with your computer. You might want to either upgrade to the latest version or uninstall and reinstall the shockwave player.

This may also be evidence of a problem in the operating system which could require more troubleshooting or even a reinstall of the OS to completely resolve the issue.

I occasionally had the same problem with shockwave eating too much memory and crashing my browser, but I haven't experienced it since I upgraded to the lastest shockwave. You might want to try that.

Try chalking up before opening each thread. That should end these miscues...

Dear PoolSharkAllen:

Thanks for supporting WeiTable and please take a look at our new CueTable. It is a dedicated for all pool players in sharing knowledge and presenting a positive image for the sport.

Both CueTable and WeiTable are interactive web-base programs using an industry standard plug-in: Macromedia Shockwave (now Adobe Shockwave). With the aide of this plug-in, I was able to created a vector-graphic based program (size scalable, high impact) in a timely professional manner. And, believe me, the strength of shockwave is not fully out yet, I do plan on continue doing true 3D visualization in the next few months.

All the table layouts in a thread are actually "running" programs instead of static images. (you can move the balls around on each table).

The program will take up some system memory resource, but not as bad as you think. Please take a look at the Microsoft article listed below. Also, you might find more information in the CueTable Technical Page.

I'd highly recommend posting CueTable URL data instead of using the wei table here.
