Yes of course Bob - 10:30 & 1:30I think you meant 10:30 and 1:30.

At that distance from the first cushion, the cue ball will be rolling smoothly on the cloth when it gets to that cushion. That's full follow. The exception is if you hit the ball hard and low so it arrives partly sliding. The "partly" is a huge problem.... just running, a touch of high, maybe? hard to tell from the little ball, ...
Nice shooting. Just for arguments sake. With your pool stance, hitting high addresses at least one more issue; the need to see the object ball. Hitting high allows a better viewing angle of both balls.Interesting you say that. Watch this video, I am white and my friend is yellow. I scored at 1.0 average. You can see the difference in my tip position compared to his, which is extreme English on most shots.
What is worth noting is that he is a great one pocket player. I don’t think I have ever beat him. Carom isn’t his game and coming from pool I think players start off with max spin.
Now I'm really confused. Hitting high english on the ball itself means you have a better angle on seeing on the balls?Nice shooting. Just for arguments sake. If you look at his pool playuh stance, he can peer over the top of the CB while having the tip and first ball in his field of vision. I wanna say this is a significant factor in his high average - but IDK.Now I'm really confused. Hitting high english on the ball itself means you have a better angle on seeing on the balls?
I see where you are coming from but I don’t notice myself changing eye height between pool and carom. I think I shoot low for a carom player. Either way it isn’t a variable I adjust to get a better view of the balls. When I aim it is by feel and properly stepping into the shot. I never connect the tip in my lower peripheral vision to anything in my upper peripheral vision. I rely on my setup position. If you look at his pool playuh stance, he can peer over the top of the CB while having the tip and first ball in his field of vision. Expecting a rain of banks to counter this notion...
No doubt you're past the pedantics. Just saying that view is integral.I see where you are coming from but I don’t notice myself changing eye height between pool and carom. What I do is that I look at the shot, and run many mental simulations rapidly, trying to find the exact line and tip position I want to use with the right speed. Then I spend all of my conscious energy exactly matching my set up tip position to the tip position my brain told me to use. My brain is usually right but it is up to me to execute it perfectly. I have a good stroke if I remember to use gravity to start my forward stroke and then gently hit the gas right before contact. Otherwise I will engage my shoulder and tip position will suffer. I am getting better every time I play.
