How about the US, Europe and Asia all play in the event in a Round Robin format. At least we will have a bronze medalist!
 
How about something like the recent east/west Queen's Cup with a combined team of North America and Europe vs. Asia.

Yes, I'd love it too:

Team North America (USA+Canada)
Team Europe
Team Asia

Per session 6 matches:
2x NA vs EU
2x EU vs Asia
2 Asia vs NA

And a 'jackpotround', like the individual timetrial in cycling. For instance: the player who reaches the highest bal with Sorto Rotation wins a point for the team.

And heck, why not throw in a game of Bonus Ball! :D (I'd like it)

Bronze?? now that's lowering our standards, did we not get the silver again?...j/k.....I still like the Mosconi Cup the way it is, but our players need to take this event more seriously like the Europe TEAM does. Can't be out late night partying and expect to play well in the morning . Also you need a TEAM of players who can forget any past issues with each other and play for 3-4 days as a Team. This event can and still does get everybody's blood pressure going in one way or the other and that's a good thing for pool and the general public to see. I also like the excitement of the fans in the stands, a professional player missing a shot he would almost never miss because of the pressure of the event, the great safeties, kicks, combos etc. I say leave it the way it is and go lick our wounds until next year. jmho
P.S. I'm a N.Y.Met fan and I have to like my wounds every year, but I'm still a Mets fan! since 1964!
