Talk about sharp points. I think they look excellent, allthough I'd probably put black leather on the first two. Very nice work!

Nice stuff....and classic Danny !! I've said it before, and I'll say it again....his are some of the very finest playing cues ever made !!

First a big thank you to Chris for posting the pics. To answer Scott's question. Danny is a true artist. It's not I think I 'm going to make a cue today. A perfect example is the Snakewood cue up above. Danny had almost 500 hours in the making of that cue. He is meticulous in every fashion of his craft. From the first steps of picking the materials he's going to use all the way to his hand rubbed finish. He will only make one of a kind cues with everything being made in his shop by him and no one else except the rubber bumper. (yes he makes his own weight bolts) Every piece of exotic wood and ivory he uses is aged for stability. His shaft blanks are turned down very slowly. (7 to 10 years) So there no making up of ten Identical point blanks with all the same joint material and collars, throw a few store bought inlays into the butt, spray some polyurethane, and put a wrap on it. He's about quality and playabilty not quanity.
I really wish that everyone could play with one his cues for a week. I know every players' preferences are different, but I would bet 65% would say it is the finest playing cue they have ever played with. I have owned and played with a lot of different cues over the years including G. Szamboti, Schick, Tad, Gina, Stroud, and Balabushka. But at this time my preference is a Tibbitts.
Let me make it known, I am admirer of all Cue Craftsmen and do not want to offend anyone.

Tikkitavi,

Welcome to the boards. We all pretty much hang out in the Cue Gallery and Wanted/For Sale section. If you have any other great cues, don't hesitate to send me a pic.

Can you give us some description of the Tibbitts cues above? The year made, that sort of thing. How long have you known Danny?

Chris

I agree Sean. I bought a Tibbitts from John Wright around 1990 and I loved that cue. I ended up trading it back to John for a fancy Southwest. I wish I still had the Tibbitts. Some of you folks that knew John and received his mailings may remember the cue. It was the 6 point Tibbitts with the tapered Purpleheart veneers.

Yep, knew John and even owned that cue at one point. Small world isn't it ?? Me, too...wish I'd never sold that one. Think it's still in Japan.

When it's all said and done, Danny will probably have made between 200-250 cues.....roughly 1/5 of Gus' production.

My question was somewhat rhetorical. I met Danny a couple of years ago and he was kind enough to do some touch-up and repairs on a couple of my cues.

He also walked me through his shop and talked a little about cues. Danny seemed like a real down-to-earth guy who enjoyed making cues, but had a full life outside of that. All-in-all it was a very enjoyable experience dealing with Danny.

Once again, very nice cues . . . . . Danny and tikitavi.
