I have read a lot of comments on AZB about Scruggs (who makes great cues) and the fact that Bob Frey makes nice cues and was with Tim for years. In our part of the country, everyone knows Bob abd what a nice cue he makes. Here is one for you guys to look at that I have of Bob's so you can see an example of his work. Absolutely top notch work and quality.
BTW, it is not for sale or trade...

Nice cue Bama, nice veneer work and colors. I like the more simple designs.

Shorty

The Frey cue also looks Scruggsish. Is the hit similar to a Scruggs ? Very nice, very nice !

I have owned several Scruggs and Frey cues. I can't tell the difference in the hit. When you do a close comparison of construction technique, they are almost identical.

Thanks for your reply. I love my Scruggs, now I might consider acquiring a Frey cue in the future.

That cue I'd trade for :D

Beautiful!!!

Thanks Jazz...I do have a few cues I keep holed back just to pull out and look at on a rainy day.....you should certainly know how that is.

Seriously, Bob Frey makes a wonderful cue at a fraction of Tim's prices. many people are used to seeing his sneaky's (made Tim's SP's for years) but don't get to see what great work he can do on higher end cues. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a really nice cue at a very reasonable price...you just can't beat the quality/cost combination.

Bob Frey certainly does make not only fine hitting cues, but also can fabricate high-end collector type cues as you have mentioned.

The following photos are a further example of Bob Frey's work, this cue was just completed in October.

Jon,

That is an EXTREMELY nice cue!! I think that is the most elaborate Frey that I have ever seen.....Joe

I'd rather own the first Frey, but the second is a pleasure to look at.

LC, I agree with you. I love the traditional 4 point/veneered cue style. The other fancy cue is a great collectable, IMO, but I would rather play with mine.

Cues ...

The first one has a real nice look, elegant looking.
The second, I love the butt work, but the forearm is a little busy
for my tastes. Both are nice cues though ...
