I have noticed that Scruggs cues sell really fast on here. Can anyone enlighten me on how his cues play? Do they play similar to any production cues out there?

Tim Scruggs cues

No, they play considerably BETTER than production cues. He's been one of the premier cue artists in America for decades. GF

IMHO...Tim Scruggs cue play a lot better then any production cue. I use to own a Tim Scruggs Sneaky Pete and I love the way it plays. I have played with a few of my friends metal joint cues made by Tim Scruggs. I like the wood to wood joint a lot better then metal joint. I have not yet played with a Tim Scruggs ivory joint so I might like it better.
If I had to say what production cue it was close to it would be the older 1990's Schon cues with the metal joint. Even so, it still does not play as well as a Tim Scruggs. I do miss my Tim Scruggs Sneaky Pete...:(

Thanks for the input! I figured they played better than production, but I was just curious how stiff the hit was. I love wrapless cues, so a Sneaky Pete might be the answer.

Tim has been known for making fine playing cues for a long time. He was one of the premier cue makers in the country, I say was because he retired not long ago. That's another reason his cues go so fast. And, I've never in my life hit a production cue that was even remotely close to a Scruggs.

I own 4 Scruggs from monster range to sneakys and every single one I have or have played with played perfect. Best hitting cues ever in my opinion. I collect cues as well and have some pretty high end stuff and by far, my favorite cue to shoot with is my Scruggs PJ.

If you can get one... at a decent price, don't pass up the chance. You won't be sorry and even if you were, you could resell it for the same amount.

r,

Greg
