Tim Scruggs (different joints) ?

I have been looking at the TS cues for sale and I would like to know what different joints he uses between the butt and shaft. I know I can call him or visit which I will end up doing but I would like to ask here as shooters views are really important. What different types of joints does he use and which is the most popular? It appears he uses a metal insert in some shafts and not in othrers.

Many thanks,
Steve

CONTACT NICK SERDULA, Nick posts here all the time, He's got/had a very nice group of tims Cues, and He's good friends with Tim as well;)

Steve,

I have owned TS cues with 3/8-10, radial, 5/16-14, and around 2000 or so he also used 3/8-10 ACME, and 5/16-14 ACME (ACME has a flat ridge on the top side of the threads to increase surface area giving better contact).
On the 3/8-10 and radial pins the shaft does not get a brass insert. Timmy may well have used other pins, but these are the onesI have personally had.

Hope this helps.
John

Just call Timi

He can explain to you the differant hits and advantages that all the joint types he uses will have!

I own now and have owned in the past a # of Tim's cues - mine have all been 5/16-14 - but I agree with the other posters - give Tim a call - I have been to his shop several times and called him also - he is a good guy.
I read somewhere once - that guys under 6 foot should try a shorter shaft and asked Tim to cut 1 inch off 1 of the shafts he made me - he looked at me with a kinda grin but made the cut for me - whilr i waited (did my game no good at all)

Was it a Balabushka?

Timi told me he did a couple Balabushka shafts for a billiards player once exactly the way you described!
Nick ;)

My Scruggs has an Acme thread and I really like the hit and the feedback. I'd also suggest to contact Mr. Scruggs for additional info on the different joint types.
