Time To Let Women Race to same as men?

With so many great women players that play in tournaments like the China Open isn't it time for them to race to nine instead of 7? It's not fair to the good women players that play at a good pace to have just about no chance to catch up racing to 7 with alternate break to catch someone that got some lucky rolls, 9-ball on the snap, or some slop in the first few games. Johnnyt

PS:Even going to 9 games is bad odds to travel half way or more around the world to maybe draw two champions in your first two matches, and he gets off to a lucky start. 4th grade math tells the story. Although like Jay says, "the cream will always rise to the top." I say, "there is a helluva lot more cream around now.
 
depends on if you want tournaments to last 2-3 more days or not... there is more cream but not enough yet, if you have a 120 woman field, realistically only about 10% would be considered on the same level as men pros. If the fields are small then would probably be ok...
 
Great topic! The thought of a professional getting a 22.22% (2 games in a race to 9 like earlier mentioned) advantage because of their sex is a little sick.

Do I not write right or do you not read right.:D Men are playing each other race to 9. Women are playing each other race to 7. These are not mixed sex tournaments I'm talking about. Johnnyt

I think it's crazy to travel to distant lands and take on the best for a world title with anything less than a race to 13 as the decider regardless of sex!
 
we used to think it was stupid for the girls to run the 2 mile instead of the 3 mile in highschool XC also..........it should all be the same. Races to 7 are a crappy way to determine the better player much like 2 miles is a crappy distance to see who the better LONG distance runner is.
 
I'm always suspicious of the phrasing where one group questions whether to "let" another group do something... as if the first group had any control or influence in the matter...

That said, I also remember, in the early 90s, a male player being absolutely livid that women were being allowed to play their event on the 9ft tables and taking precious space and time away from the men's event. Every time a woman missed a ball or played safe, I thought he was going to have a heart attack from the sheer frustration of it.
