Why do all of the jump cue haters make it seem like jumping a ball is the easiest thing in the world? Learning to use a jump cue well is not easy. Not even close to easy! It's an advanced skill for advanced players. You may be able to make contact a lot but controlling the cue ball and object ball are very difficult. Don't underestimate it.
Jumping is not always easier than kicking. There are actually many situations where jumping is harder than kicking (cue ball close to object ball, object ball on rail, not clear path to jump, etc.).
Controlling the outcome of a kick is much easier than a jump. Unless the jump shot is very make-able, pros will usually favor a kick in order to get safe. Jumping safe is way more difficult than kicking safe.
So if you leave a shot that can easily be jumped in, your safe wasn't very good to begin with. Just like if you leave a shot that can easily be kicked in.
Whether they use a kick or a jump, a pro is going to make contact a large percentage of the of the time. Pro's aren't expecting BIH after a safe, they are just hoping to get a shot next. So as long as you don't leave a very make-able jump, you don't have anything to worry about.
Also, I would be willing to bet that an average match has a lot more kick shots played than jump shots. If jump cues were ruining the game this wouldn't be the case.
