When you say, "I tend to steer my tip away from my body", do you mean a right handed player tends to hit the CB to the right of his aim point? I find it confusing to describe the tip accuracy relative to the shooter's body instead of relative to the aim point on the CB.

The important thing is how it relates to your body/stance/stroke.

From many years of oddly missing easy shots and not being able to use left spin as well as right, I sorted out that my stroke goes from left to right just a bit on some shots. Causes misses on straight shots due to throw because of that un-wanted right rotation on the ball. Not a lot, but enough to rattle many shots. Been working on it though, happens less now that it did a year ago, and hoping I will get rid of that habit before I die and actually break into the solid A levels LOL

I also have had issues since learning to play seeing the true cueball center, again working on that issue slowly. I'm sure my subconscious swipe to the right is due to this but possibly vice versa, who knows.

Most of my tip error is on the vertical axis. Too low from engaging shoulder muscles, tightening grip, and moving body. Sometimes I drop my elbow before striking the ball, hitting too high. Sometimes, especially when shooting down because the ball is near the rail, I misjudge the contact point.

I am a lefty.
On cuts to the left I tend to hit thick and on cuts to the right I tend to hit thin. To me that means my grip hand is moving toward my body. Is this what you mean?

When I steer, my tip goes away from my body (left-handed).

The biggest cause is tightening my grip, which tends to happen on shots that are outside of my comfort zone or when I'm feeling very nervous. It also happens when I don't stand right and have a chicken-wing arm position.

Me too.

I occasionally have this issue when I am a bit too far from the CB (bridge too long).
It happens when I am not in a normal shooting position in which my bridge hand is at an odd distance from the rail and I can't find a comfortable position.
I am now able to recognize it when it comes up and make the adjustment to error on the shorter (too close) side.
