I have purchased a lot of tools over the years. The Willard's coiner (dime contour) & the Joe Porper Tip Burnisher are the 2 tools I won't leave home without. I also like to have the Tip Porcupine on me at all times as well (I forget who makes it, Porper?). Best, -Z-

Simple Chalk & 220 Sandpaper.

I use a tapper made by Brianna Products called Pal Joey. Its a CNC'd tapper that is head and shoulders above the rest. I know Lee has been punished on this forum by some folks and thats not my business but the tool is without question the best out there.

Williard's shaper: nickel edge contour. That's it--I travel light

What does the burnisher do? I've seen them when browsing for accessories, but I could never figure out what its purpose is.

When you burnish the side of your tip/ the wall of you tip, it creates a shiny gloss like texture, which seals and harden the side wall, allowing the tip to hold its shape and lessen the mushrooming effect on your tip. I burnish my tip with my finger tip wet with spit and I wet the wall of my tip, than just burnish it with a piece of leather. I hear that burnishing layered tips might cause the glue to melt and in turn causing the layered tip to fall apart. Don't know how true this is.

Happy shooting! :)

I play with a layered hard tip. I use a cheapo nail file (120 grit: $0.89) that last about 1 year. But I only need to groom my tip about once very 2 months, playing 10-15 hours per week.

I honestly carry a Dime Willard I use infrequently, as they EAT TIP like my Doggie goes through Dog Food.

A Black tip Tapper that works well but seems to get little use.

Last and a NEW Dollar Bill will do the job also is a Joe Porper Mushroom Tool.

IMHO NONE of the Combo Tools are worth the price asked, and the WORST is the ATROX TOOL that some people here bought and most do not like.

Heres some of the best tools available all on one page, with the exception of a tip pick. If you want a kick ass tool that will never wear out, try the 3 Way Tip Tool ll.
A little pricey and way too heavy to carry with you but you can't find anything better than this. Also bought a Sandman curved sander on EBay. Same type of permanent grit as the 3 Way. At the bottom of the page, Budget has a curved metal sander with permanent grit that would be close to the Sandman.
Porper makes great tools, a couple of other must haves are, the Mushroom Grazer, Little Shaver and the Burnisher for at home tip replacement and maintenance.
I just carry a 4" curved shaper, a Willards nickel, a handful of alcohol swabs and a piece of leather.
