If any is interested, I purchased a bag of these from Amazon to cover my cue tip which in turn keeps lots of table chalk from getting inside my cue case. I have a collection of cues from 11.8mm up to 13mm and these fit them all. Here is the link:

I've been using the Kamui brand, they are made of silicone, these look like plastic, are they?

I sell the Kamui and Tiger ones, both are made of silicone. You don't want them to be made from a hard plastic material..

These are not hard plastic, very soft and pliable, probably silicon. Less expensive from Amazon than the billiard store.

As far as wiping the tip with a napkin or cloth. These are much easier. Slip it over the tip when your putting the joint protectors on.

Thread protectors.

Get them at Ace, Lowe's, etc.
At Ace you can buy them one at a time for about two bits.

If I ever own 60 shafts, I'll try Amazon.

I no longer use joint protectors since buying a JB case, I can open my case turn it upside down and shake it and the butts and shafts don't move, I can remove any butt or shaft using 2 fingers, to each their own but I really enjoy being able to remove my cue quickly and not have to worry about joint protectors.

I read this post today and already had to make a stop at Ace hardware, so for S's & G's I picked up a single grey (only color available) in a 1/2" size (12.7mm) for $0.43, they are made of vinyl by the way. I have a Revo 12.4mm shaft and I found it to be extremely tight and had to be forced on, TBH was a little nervous about it taking the tip off when I removed it. This size would need to be stretched out if you were to use one regularly. I just wipe my tip off with a napkin before putting it away, and think these are a little excessive, but to each is own. I however highly recommend joint protectors. My $.02

The silicone tip covers made by Kamui work great, very pliable, easy off and on and stat put, I know they are more expensive but I have the same ones for more than a year so in the grand scheme of things not really all that much.
