These are not hard plastic, very soft and pliable, probably silicon. Less expensive from Amazon than the billiard store.I've been using the Kamui brand, they are made of silicone, these look like plastic, are they?
I no longer use joint protectors since buying a JB case, I can open my case turn it upside down and shake it and the butts and shafts don't move, I can remove any butt or shaft using 2 fingers, to each their own but I really enjoy being able to remove my cue quickly and not have to worry about joint protectors. These are not hard plastic, very soft and pliable, probably silicon. As far as wiping the tip with a napkin or cloth. These are much easier. Slip it over the tip when your putting the joint protectors on.
