Tip + Ferrule Questions

Hi everyone. I had a few questions regarding tip and ferrule maintenance.

I read somewhere that you can use the Magic Eraser to clean the ferrule. Is this okay or is it too abrasive? If not, what methods do you guys recommend?

I own the Porper Cut-Rite to shaping the tip and trimming down the edges when changing tips and mushrooming. However, I hate it. First, when using the shaping side, it will dirty the ferrule as the chalk and trimmed tip will get lodged in the cutter. The ferrule will come out slightly black and stained with the chalk from the tip. Second, when using the trimming side, the edges are straight and flush with the ferrule. Instead, the upper portion of the tip has a smaller diameter than the bottom of the tip. The bottom is actually not even with the ferrule at all and I have to manually sand it with 600 grit sandpaper. Are there any tools you guys recommend that will NOT do what the Cut-Rite does and is inexpensive?

Thanks for all your help!

please dont take this wrong, not being a smartass, but
isnt it worth $10 to have a cuemaker or cue repair guy do all that for you?
assuming there is one somewhere near you
yes to the magic eraser, i use a little alcohol on it also

Had the same dislike with the Cutrite. Kinda shapes the tip like a cone, doesn't it. I use the Porper Mushroom Grazer and the Little Shaver. The Porper burnisher also works great.

That is the EXACT problem I've been having with the Cut-Rite. The Porper Mushroom Grazer and Little Shaver...aren't they essentially used for the same purpose? I mean, if you're shaving the edge of the tip when it mushrooms (Mushroom Grazer), won't it also make it flush with the ferrule (Little Shaver)? So aren't the two tools interchangeable in terms of the purposes they serve?

Also, what tool do you use to shape your tip?
