Tip for B/J Cue...what to use?

I have seen many Threads on Tips, but I am not sure what to use.
I have a CueTec 99296 B/J Cue and the tip popped off and vanished during a 9 Ball break. I have a monster break and hit the balls very hard.
I like the Cue, it was a gift from my wife,so replacing it, is out of the question. What Tip should I have put on, for Breaking and Jumping?
 
If you prefer a phenolic tip, a one piece ferrule/tip combo might suit you better. Talk to Varney Cues -- he threads his phenolic tips into the ferrule to prevent them from coming off or uses a one piece unit.

If you prefer leather I'm not sure what your options are, just be sure to sand the ferrule and tip well enough to provide a good surface for gluing and maybe use a two-part epoxy to put it all together.

I'd just go with the Phenolic Ferrule/tip combo. It will last you forever. Expecially if you have a monster break.

Also, ask the cue man that you goto to use Gorilla Glue, this stuff seriously is the best. It has to set for 24hrs, but when it sets in, it will expand, and get rid of any air bubbles between the dowel and the ferrule/tip.
 
I talked to my local cue maker yesterday and he said he uses Triangle Tips and Super glues the side to make them stiffer?

Try the canvas-resin...if installed correctly, you'll love it. And last a lifetime...you'll never have to touch it.;)
 
i agree with kevin here...i install regular canvis phenolic tips (not tip ferrule combo) and have had no problems. once installed correctly they will last you a lifetime.
 
Tip

For a break/jump cue - the canvas resin phenolic tip, IMO, is the best.

performance vs. cost vs. maintenance, it gives the biggest return.

I'll have some of these on Christmas, I'll post what I think about them then. I love how easily my phenolic tip jumps, but I can't do anything but lose the rock afterwards. My friends cue is harder to jump (especially really close), but the jump-draw comes in handy. I'm hoping the White Diamond will work as well as it is described...
 
what tip does your friends jump cue have on it? also canvis phenolic looks like a leather tip from a distance if you like the look of that.
 
White diamond tip

I have white diamond tips on my break cue and my jump cue and I would not use anything else again. I have tried many others. I highly recommend getting one. It is VERY hard and holds chalk very well. Just my two cents. :)

It's leather, probably a Le Pro...or something similar. It's not hard enough to make it easy to jump, but you can juice it up. I was actually thinking of getting a seperate jump cue like that and keeping the phenolic on my jump-break. That way I can pick what I need for the situation; but honestly, I don't jump often--I have a killer kicking game.
