Tip lathe

You may want to consider a cue lathe (Cueman makes good ones). No modifications needed; ready to install tips, ferrules and clean cues. I’ve even finished CF tubes with mine. Best of luck with whichever route you go.
Cueman's lathes are the best. 100%excellent quality and customer service. Buy the best you can afford. By what fits your needs, Take care of it and it'll last for ever.
Also take a look at MidAmerica's stuff.

If I just wanted to install new cue tips for people, what lathe would y'all suggest?
I don't want to make cues, just help out people in our league that can't find someone to install new tips.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I started out with a Porper repair lathe, they come with everything you will need included in the price.

Does the ER collet mark the cue?

Depends on the collets you use and where you use them. If it on a regular playing shaft, it's fine. If it's in a carom shaft with a parabolic taper you need to use a Delrin collet or something similar.
I use a set-tru ER40 collet for shaft work and even joint pin work and it's incredibly accurate and very user friendly.
