Hi Folks,
just wondering about something, I have recently taken up the game after playing snooker and i am finding that i cannot get a lot of english on the cue ball, it is a very new tip, LEPRO i think and it had improved noticibly on draw shots as it plays in but i seem to be getting a lack of side spin.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Is it just cause the tip is new, less than 20 hours play or is it a poor tip? it is on a Fury RP-2 playing cue.

Thanks

That is a very strange thing  ....... my guess would be something besides the tip is the issue.
Try this..... put the cueball on the spot and shoot the length of the table towards the center diamond at the opposite end. Use alot of sidespin. If the cue ball is hitting anywhere near the side pocket you are fine.... if you are hitting on the far side of the side pocket, you are doing great.
The ability to get to the side pocket is more than enough sidespin than you will ever need in most game situations.
If you are not able to apply sidespin, and you are not miscueing when you are stroking through the ball.... you are not hitting where you think you are hitting on the cb.

Thanks Rivercity,
had a game today, i played at a different club to what i usually play and all was fine, i have come to the conclusion that the cushions are so dead on the terrible table i have been playing on that the spin is lost by the time it gets to the second cushion. I am relieved to find that it is not my stroke! I am still not getting huge amounts of spin after contact with the object ball but i think it will take time to adjust to the bigger ball and tip sizes.
Thanks again
