Tip Shaper

I've been wanting a better shape on my 11mm tip for a while. Used one of those cheap shapers/scuffers from Academy, that went in the trash pretty quick. Borrowed a friend's Cuetek Bowtie, like the pick but the scuffers were mediocre. While going through my pile of random stuff I can't seem to throw away, I came across some short sections of aluminum tubing left over from some project or another. Inspiration struck, I grabbed a dime and checked, and lo and behold, one tube was just a dime's width ID. Cut a 6" section in half lengthwise with my Dremel and a cutoff wheel, rounded off the sharp edges and superglued a piece of 3M wet/dry sandpaper (I think 220 grit) to the inside. Put a perfect radius on my shoot stick. If the sandpaper ever wears out, I'll wire wheel the old and glue in some new.

Showed it to some friends and they liked how it worked. I'm getting a chalk holder that has a tip pick, and as soon as I find a tube with a nickel radius for my break stick I'll be set.

I use a willard dime shaper. I honestly only have to shape my tip a couple times a year. If it looks a little flat I use the ultimate tip tool prongs to tighten up a little mushroom. If it mushrooms a little more, I simply sand it flush and burnish the sides with spit and a dollar bill. The only time I flatten a tip is if I'm doing a ton of straight, stop-shot drills. Hope this helps.
