I just bought a dozen layered tips, just for personal use...I probably won't be using the last of them for a year or two...is it fine to just keep them in a drawer, or might they dry out, and should I instead keep them in a humidor or in my refigerator maybe ?

I keep all the tips I stock in old medicine bottles stored in a plastic toolbox in my basement. I've had them stored this way for several years, if not more, and have never had a problem with regular or layered tips. I would imagine tips packaged in the blister packages (Moori) would stay "fresh" longer as they are sealed air-tight and wouldn't require any special storage.
 
I keep mine in Tupperware type containers, (made by Zip Lock).
You give the container a squeeze and supposedly remove the air within.
For a buck and a half each, I doubt its creates a 100% vacuum, but its the best I could think of.
 
If a vacuum helped

there are far better ways. Those vacuum sealing bags that heat seal the bag after first drawing a vacuum would be a better choice. Works terrific on food.
But why guess what is the best method? It may be different for one piece tips and layered tips. Why not ask for advice from Tweeten, Tiger, or Kamui, to name just a few ? I am a cuemaker with many hundreds of tips in stock, I am sure there are others here with far more. We can all benefit from this topic. It may be that a vacuum can damage a tip. It may severely dry it out, or delaminate some tips. I suspect just storing in small plastic bags, and a cool dry place, out of direct sun may be sufficient.
 
I store mine is zip lock bags. I have been doing it that way for years and never had a problem.

Hi there,

This is what we recommend for tip storage. Zip-Lock bag is perfect. Suck the air out before sealing the bag. Then place the tips in a cool place. As long as the tips... Any tips for this matter... is in a cool place and not going from extreme heat to extreme cold during the storage period you should have no problems at all.
