Tip talk

Had a hit with the new cue yesterday. Love it. The Zen Tips however are hard as rock. Not my cup of tea.

Was using MW Supertips in a medium rating before, but the person I was getting them from has jacked the price and I'm a lot less likely to buy handfuls of them when they are costing me 3x more than they were before.

Found someone who has Thoroughbred tips where I am currently, I was recommended them here before by @j2pac

Medium Soft Vs Medium? Is there much of a difference between them? I would normally go Medium, as I am a boring fence sitter in most aspects of life 😂 but the guy is waiting on a delivery of M, but does have MS in stock. If it goes well, I will buy a bag full of them.

Other options I have considered are Sakura, kamikaze and HOW - which are all easy enough to find here, but priced a little higher.

Happy to receive any recommendations for a nice medium tip.

Kind of redundant post now... I just got given a ton of Moori MS tips from a friend

Seems I am destined to not use a thoroughbred tip lol

Try the medium soft. I'm sure after awhile it will firm up a bit. All tips do to some degree.
👍

The new Moori tips are not as good as the older ones.

People have been saying this for about 15 years now. So besides counterfeits, Did Moori actually ever stop cue tip production or change their Genuine cue tip making process or cue tip material? In other words, did Genuine Moori tips ever actually change in quality and WHY?

These are all co-branded with CPBA - Garnet MS tips. Got given handfuls in a bag.
I have been reading all kinds of things about Moori here.
I was given them by a very capable player, so I am assuming they are decent.

I tried one and was not a fan.

Prefer @pooldawg8 DawgDuds
My dad makes his own duds, has tons in the garage. Like a ridiculous amount. They were Elkmasters originally I think. But they are all 11 or 12 millimetre for his snooker cue. Think he's had them since the 90s

FWIW
Talked with Justin Bergman a couple weeks ago/Denver. He uses that brand.... Medium hardness.
If they're good enough for him, they'd be more than good enough for anyone else.

I have two Mike Wooldridge SuperTips, with one ready to go on my English pool cue once my G3 gives out. Really excited to give them a go. I know a lot of people really like them.

I've been using them here for a while. They're really good. Just don't have a reliable source for them anymore.

Try the Thoroughbred anyway. 👍
Picked up a few thoroughbred tips. Tried giving the Moori MS an extended grace period, but I can't get on with it. Will throw a TB one on later and give it a review. Also going to change the sonic tip from my ignite break shaft. Finally fed up of it going flat over and over. I have one Taom, and one bulletproof tip, haven't decided what to put on the end yet. But will review that too.
The Sonic tip was a nice hit, but feel it keeps losing shape due to its age. It was a first generation Ignite break shaft, that I got from a friend.

Anyone used Taom or Bulletproof break tip here willing to chime in?

I do a fair bit of jumping with the break cue as I am tall, I know the Taom is listed as a break/jump tip, but have seen a few people stating the softer material of the Bulletproof doesn't get the ball up too well (maybe it will help being on a stiff carbon shaft rather than wood?). Thinking to try the Taom first, unless someone can tempt me otherwise, as I can always sell the BP for an inflated price where I am located.

while you are fishing for a tip you like try g2 japan
i use soft but i guess medium for yoi
Had a Medium G2 on a Fuhjin 3/8x10 shaft. It did feel a nice hit. But I didn't get on with the shaft. Might sell it on here eventually. I was able to get MW super tips for a price I liked for quite a while, which is why I never bothered to pick up any G2 back then. Maybe I can give them another go. Let's see how the TB goes first.
