tipping the cuemaker

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a custom shaft. I get to pick it up tonight, but I'm wondering, do I tip him?
 
No.
If the work is good, give him a compliment.
If his work is mediocre to poor, turn it over slowly in your hand and say, "Yes, I see. Uh-huh." And walk out the door. :)
 
No need to tip.you commissioned a project. He/she completed said project. You pay the fee.

This is how bad the tipping culture has become in the U.S. people think we gotta tip for everything.
 
I had a well known cue maker build a nice cue for me and after I got my new cue I asked him to do some shaft work for me (finish off predator blanks with trim rings to match my cue) and every time we agreed on a price I always sent him more than he asked for. My reasoning was he was taking away from his cue building time to do shaft work for me. He did a number of shafts for me over the years after that before he retired and I always paid him more than he asked. I know I didn't have to do it, but I was happy that he did the work for me.

I pull up to a gas pump. Get out, insert a credit card, pump my gas and want a receipt. It says see attendant. Walk in, have to stand in a line waiting to get the receipt, and there is a tip jar??? For what??? They also sell coffee and snacks but it is all self serve and the cashier is behind a glass window. Who is the tip jar for the customer who did all of the work or the person taking the money???


I have always wondered if it is required to tip a lady of the night? :grin:

Why just give her the tip? Give her the whole damn thing. You're paying' for it.

And she's takin' it.
 
If you love it tell him it's worth more than his initial quote and give him what you want.
As far as general tipping, some like waiters and waitresses are only paid a token amount & should be tipped unless their service was sh...t.
If you are very well healed, spread the wealth!
