Does anyone have any advise to offer on replacing tips (or links to good instructional web sites)? It doesn't sound too complicated but I've seen a number of threads where people are haveng someone else do it.
Thanks

Sorry if people seem non responsive. Use the search on this website for a wealth of info.

FYI a lot of the popular layered tips are very difficult to install, and really require a qualified cue repair guy or installer to do it right.

Gregg,
Thanks for the reply. I just figured my question got bumped down by some other posts. I was thinking about replacing the tip with a Moori Med. so I'll probably follow your advice and find an expert.

Thanks Tennessee,
I went to the site...now I am convinced an "expert" is the right answer, even on my not so expensive cue

What do most installers use to shape the tip... do they use sandpaper? Or a utility knife?

I have also heard spining on the lathe too much can harden a tip... is this true as well?

If, as you say, your cue is not that expensive, I would take a chance and replace it myself. Try it. It's really not that difficult.

Replacing a tip definately ain't "rocket surgery". For years I've been using a Tweeten tool. After you cut the ole tip off, just clamp the tool to the shaft (wrap a piece of pool cloth on shaft) and turn the handle to sand the ferrel even. A guy steered me to a hobby shop for the glue. Can't recall the name. I've never had one pop off.

The tip is the most important part of the cue---take it to a professional with a lathe. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish.
