I'm about to get a new tip put on my cue. Any advice? I was thinking of a medium tip- not too hard or too soft. What exactly are the strengths and weaknesses of each? I've been playing pool for a while, but I never studied up on the strengths and weaknesses of hard vs. soft tips, etc.

I think all tips turn into a hard tip in short period of time. Has anyone done a test on a soft tips hardness and compared it to a hard tip after a month of play? I think on soft tips its best to have a tip with a lot of layers on it and not cut it down if you want that softness for a longer period of time.
