tips

Go easy on him... It's his first post.

To be honest there is no tip that most pros use. It's more based on personal preference depending on what type of hit you want from your pool cue.

I would recommend using the search function to find a thread where this has already been discussed. Welcome to the forum btw!

It's all about what your comfortable with and what feels right on your playing cue...
It's like asking if your prefer a soft or firm pillow..... What works for me might not work for you.

I suggest you try a cue that has tips your considering..

Best of luck'

i shoot a soft layerd tip really like the english and control that i get with ball. had a hard tip on new cue that i just bought had it changed to soft

i meant hard,soft or med.
Most folks will recommend a beginner use a med to start out with. Once they get better and learn control, start trying harder or softer tips.... I have been shooting for 30 years and I prefer a med buffalo tip. Black Diamond brand.

Unless he's changed in the last year or so, Rodney Morris told me he uses a Triangle. C. J. Wiley uses a milk dud. Efren and Busty use Elk Masters. Earl Strickland uses Elk Masters.

It doesn't seem that pros prefer soft, medium or hard any more than amateurs do. Whenever an interviewer asks a pro about tip preference, the answers are all over the board -- super soft to super hard.
