Hi all :-)

posted already in some threads that i made a long break.
so now that i started playin pool again i saw, that even here in germany some things changed in pool. in the time i was *off* there are now some instructors- (and a few i saw are really excellent). i used to give lessons earlier, and i loved it to give my input and knowledge to other ppl who love the game, or just gettin started with it. so i asked an official guy, what way i have to go, to be get * an official* instructor. after his answer i was shocked a bit- the amount of money, i should spend to get this licenses........wow.

so here i have my question to the instructors of the BCA here. how do u become here an official instructor in the states- that really would interest me a lot my friends,

lg from germany,

ingo

The basic requirements to become a BCA recognized instructor are to work with an Advanced or Master level instructor to learn the material taught, and also demonstrate to that instructor the ability to teach it to others. You only become a recognized instructor with the recommendation of an Advanced or Master instructor. There is a base price of $795 to become recognized, and a $100 filing fee to the BCA that is paid when the paperwork is submitted. That $100 includes your first years dues. There are some other requirements to maintain or upgrade your certification that can be found at www.bca-pool.com under the information regarding the instructor program.

To continue on Steve's thought: We look for persons that can teach. Playing pool is a bonus, teaching is a passion....SPF=randyg

Well put Randy.
In many fields people have a tremendout amount of knowledge and skill, but are not able to pass it on to another person in any kind of effective manner.
My dad was a perfect example. There was no one that could work with wood or metal better (it was his hobby, not profession). He was extremely talented, but when it came to teaching, or passing that knowledge on, he just didn't have the patience or the proper mind set.

thank u for your answers- that really interested me. and what i read about that on the bca page was 100 percent ok!

Randy; i agree 100 % with your. To teach pool, to just give your knowledge to another person HAVE to be a passion! And if this person gives u a positive feedback and u feel that he s thankful- that satisfies me like not many other things-makes me just happy.

think if i would set u pthe prices here for the several licenses....you ll fall out of your chair- not payable for a *normal* workin man/woman. Makes me sad, because i would liked that really to do- but after saw *our* prices for that i think i ll just do that the *old fashioned way*. What i really will miss (in my opinion),that i would have been able to receive perhaps *other ways* to transport same knowledge just in another way- think u know what i mean. even so perhaps could have seen some things (don t would say that i didn t know, but just never thought about to teach them another way:p) that i haven t used in a workout.

ok- thx again lettin me know what i wanted- wish u all the best and hundreds of possesed and pool-addicted guys

you re doin a nice job here on Az and love the way instructors trying to help here in words :)

ingo...Just so you know, you can be BCA Certified, and reside in Germany. It is not restricted to U.S. citizens, and we have several BCA instructors in other parts of the world.

I'm back

Hi, just wondering what advantage i would have being a certified BCA instructor as oppose to not, as i have taught many players who went on to great things after coming to me for lessons. i'm thinking of getting back into the game and opening a pool clinic/cue sales and cue repair type of store. your thoughts? thanks for your time, jeff

Advantages?
You are listed on the BCA website, which offers potential for new students to find you.
The certification adds credibility and a professional status. You aren't just another Joe Blow.
But the biggest advantage, depending on which instructor you work with for your certification, is you get access to one of the most successful training programs anywhere. Specifically, I know many of the SPF family are in regular contact with each other, always updating, studying, developing new ways of teaching, and challenging each other. RandyG (Pops) is the father of SPF and our group is not only held to BCA standards, but we are held to Randy's standards. The success rate of students in our group is truely remarkable. So the opportunity to continue to become a better instructor is right there at your fingertips.

As Randy stated, we all have a passion for teaching pool that often exceeds our passion for playing pool....and believe me, we all love to play pool!
