hi, i knew i could count on you. here's the thing, was allison fisher voted player of the year for 1995? i know she moved to charlette, n.c. in october of 1995, but was she the player of the year, for 1995? if not who was?, now for the following years, she was voted player of the year every year except 2001, is that correct? , so, how many total times has she been player of the year? and what years, also, who was the #1 ranked female player in the beginging of 1995, before fisher came to the states? and was fisher #1 by december of 1995? if not who was, and when did fisher get to #1?, where did she start at her rankings? in other words, was she ranked 4th on tour?, or did she move right to the #1 spot? very curious, because i quit pool from november of 1988-to-april 1998 9 and a half years, so i was out of it, when she landed, and launched a sneek attack! thanks grem.

Silencer, as a long-time fan of women's pro pool that remembers Fisher's earliest days well, I'll try to pich hit for Gremlin here.

First of all, Robin Dodson (known as Robin Bell before her marriage) was player of the year in '95. Fisher played only the last part of the '95 WPBA schedule, finishing ninth in her first event and and then winning the '95 WPBA Nationals in only her second career start. With so many zeros counting toward her WPBA ranking, she was unable to reach # 1 until well into the '96 season. In the period prior to Fisher becoming #1, a few reached #1, but, if memory serves, Loree Jon Jones, who won five tour events in '95, was #1 when Fisher arrived on the scene.

Fisher was player of the year in '96, and, as you have suggested, has since repeated the feat in every year but 2001. Where Fisher was ranked at the end of 1995 is a very difficult question to answer, but in view of the WPBA rankings methodolgy, she most likely finshed that year outside of the top ten, despite the fact that it was clear that she would soon be a star on the WPBA tour.

thank you very much, it seems that your info, is accurate. so in other words, lori jon jones was the big fish before fisher rained on her parade. and it wasn't until mid 96 or so, that fisher, took the #1 ranking. thanks again. so fisher was player of the year 7 times!, that's a record for male or female!
