It is silly to say that displaying class after defeat makes you a loser. I believe the opposite to be true. Take SVB for example: Best player in US and the guy with the most class.
Slam a cue. accuse someone in the audience with distracting you , no honest congratulations for the opponent - storm out of the venue, now there goes a winner. No NOT a winner, definintely not sore loser.
I think a champion can win with grace and absorb a loss the same way. They will go home consider the event and put that loss behind them out of their mind and move on to the next challange expecting success.

Actually, the way the saying goes is "Show me someone who ENJOYS losing and i'll show you a loser"
I posted it in page 2 of this thread about Jimmy Reid, almost 6 years ago and it's a direct quote from Jimmy Reid.

Since then, i have only seen it misquoted several times.
Not that Jimmy coined the phrase, but when people say it the way you are quoting it, (which happened as recently as a few months ago) it loses some of it's meaning and can be misinterpreted.
To what Jimmy said, it has no bearing on how someone acts, but how they feel inside. (ironic that Jimmy acted like an ass)
You have people who HATE to lose, who are very polite and gracious in their loss. Doesn't mean they don't hate it with everything in their being.
When you say "show me a good loser", it's not the same thing.
It almost seems like it's labeling good behavior as "loser-ish" and advocating a tantrum, which is wrong.

You aren't gonna win all the time, no one does. If you lose, take it like a man/woman and not some little spoiled brat jackass nit. Usually the ones that don't take it with class are the ones that think they are 3 balls better than they really are. You can still be super competitive and show some class, but then we all know some peoples definition of class is going to junior high school PE.

If you want to reach the top, you have to want very hard to win each game. Just the art to pull something positive out of your lost matches or mistakes is an advantage-and this is not given to many players.
to talk about "good loosers" should be used more if it s about showing the necessary respect to your opponent. I don t think that there is any player, who wants to increase his game is satisfied after a game. It hurts also if you played your best pool and lost the game....

You've got to be kidding me. Vince Lombardi was one of the greatest coaches in football history and you're calling him a chump? I'm sure Vince was talking about football when he said it, before Jimmy ever said his version of Vince's quote. The OP had the quote right.
