Hi all, just thought I'd share a story that happend just now with my fellow AZB members.
So, I've been playing pool all day on an 8-ft my friend got in his garage, and I've been getting back in a pretty good stroke lately. I'm constantly running 3-4 balls on my turns (playing 8-ball). We played for about 6 hours or so and decided to go visit my friend who works as a bartender at this pretty crowded bar.
I get there and there were two guys there with their own cues, let's call them Guy A and Guy B (this is a bar that no one brings their own cue to, trust me, I know.) I know Guy A and went up to say hi, he's a really friendly guy. So I look at him and say, mind if I get in on a game (8-ball), and he looks at Guy B and says, looks like you have a challenger. I instantly said, no, it's just a friendly game, and I paid for the round. Guy B looks at me gives me a thumbs down and said, "You are going down."
I looked at Guy A and said, can I use your cue and he let's me. I let Guy B have the break and he is not very good. I kept missing on purpose but set up all my balls to run the table. Everytime I set up a ball and it gets really close to the pocket, he will say, 'Close, but not close enough." So he shot most of his stripe balls and have two left and misses. I look at him, smile and started my run. I shot my first shot and drew the ball from one end of the table to the next and after all of my shots, I have one left, a cut shot. By this time, Guy B was looking kind of stunned. Everyone else in the bar is already watching the game and a few girls were cheering.
I cut the shot extra hard so it bounces back out of the pocket and acted as if I was pissed. He shoots one of his stripe ball and miss the 2nd. So I cut the shot again extra hard and it bounces out again. I look him in the face and smiled. He didn't say anything, he makes the last shot and is going for the 8, misses. I look at him, smile again, cut the my last shot again so it bounces out of the pocket, and set my self up perfect for a straight in shot of the 8. I looked Guy B in the face, and started cracking up. Guy A was also laughing, because he caught on to what I was doing. As guy B goes down to shoot the 8, I just put my hand over the 8 and said, don't embarrass me now. By this time, everyone in the bar saw me run the table and knew I could've took him, and a few guys started to clap and whistle. I gave Guy A his cue back and told Guy B good game and went up to the bar with my friend that I came with, my bartender friend laughs at me, because he says that I embarrassed the guy, but I told him, I didn't, I let him win, his g/f was with him, I don't embarrass people in front of their g/f. I ordered mini-corn dogs and a order of chicken strips, nothing taste better than a victory dinner lol
Yup, that's it. My lame-o story of my day. Hope I didn't bore you, it's pretty normal compare to some of you guys' stories lol.
Happy shooting!
