Today's World 14.1 Finals Commentary by Robles & Barouty!

That sounds like my routine too.
If you make it to Steinway next year, I'll buy you a beer... you can drink half and then we'll discuss.
Before that...
I'm looking forward to the new spring tournament in Windsor Locks.
I'm interested to see what this all looks like under different leadership.

Well, you said it not me.... Videos...? I think we've looped around. Isn't this where the thread started?
There is no video of the finals!
I'm not clear to me if you're saying Dragon does a good job or get a grip and lower your expectations for tournament pool production.

Yup.Videos was one of the words I used, but my point was really about the topic you brought up. The US Open 14.1 In Windsor this Spring and what we might expect.

I really hope we get some high quality players and some good live stream and perhaps some videos after the fact, but I suspect the quality of play will not be as high as that in the Worlds. I hope I am wrong.

My starting point is the sense that Dragon doesn't do a very good job, based on my attendance at four of their 14.1 championships. I've only attended these events, no others, and I'm curious about other promoters and the way they do business. It's an interesting market place and I'm curious about it... you have the players, sponsors & advertisers, and then fans. The promoters have to put together and maintain a complex package to attract players and sponsors and then deliver the audience. I can't speak to the first two aspects of the package [players and sponsors]; but as a fan and a member of the audience, I feel like I'm in a marketplace where the seller doesn't seem to care very much about the buyer.
I'm going back into my cave... my glass?... half full!
When I come out of hibernation in the spring, I'll make my way to Windsor Locks and consider all this again.
Regardless of the quality of the promoter, I'll enjoy the competition.

I attended the last US Open 14.1 in Kentucky that was put on by another promoter. Very weak field, no streaming, no videos, no attendence. If you are so disappointed with Charlie's productions and the fact that you have to wait a little while longer for the videos to be released then I suggest you boycott his event and buy some accu-states videos of straight pool from 30 years ago. Or the option of putting on your own world class tournament is always open. I promise I will attend.

actually, I have to chime in here. save the non hd and poor resolution of VHS, the accustats 14.1 videos from 30 years ago are much more educational and enjoyable to watch if you would like to learn the proper way to run the balls and enjoy watching straight pool played properly. Watching guys like Varner, Sigel, Hopkins, Rempe, Liscotti, West, Danny D, Zuglan, Collavita, Reyes, Ervolino, Fusco, Garcia, etc is far more entertaining in my opinion than watching guys like mika blast the balls open and whip the cueball all over the table from shot to shot. If you don't think there's a difference between the time honored method and the smash and grab method, ask yourself why Thorsten continually finds himself in the finals of these major 14.1 tournaments. He is one of the few modern players that plays the game correctly and therefore has the consistency to make it to the winners circle.
