TOI Discussion Forum?

The toughest issue is the word "can"

Just not that simple for some people.

What's not "simple" is making a decision for "some people". Deciding to try TOI for 3 hours and commit to learning something new is essential to developing and expanding flexibility in one's game.

Who would ever have dreamed that the inside of the ball would contain the "secret" key that can unlock the door. The toughest issue is the word "can" because it will only be true if someone is willing to make that decision. 'The TOI Teacher is the Game'

ME!

LMAO!

Just kidding. I know just enough about it to be dangerous.

For all of those on here who haven't tried it, you need to. If you are like most players, any information about improving your game should be welcomed.

If you spend some time with it, you may find that it will give you a tool that you don't already have. If it isn't for you, then you may be one of the fortunate souls who is able to figure out everything on their own. Learning this may cut down on the time required to bring your game to a bit higher level.

Aloha.

I purchased the online lesson when it first came out.

It works.

It's just not for me, but I can see how some folks may like using it.

In my opinion, T.O. I is the natural evolution of the shot-making process that everyone who plays enough hours, if not taught first, should inevitably discover themselves. That's why I believe like you, that everybody should at least give it a try.

If someone tries it and doesn't like it, they'll go back to hitting center ball; but if they know something about it first, on that day when they begin to discover T.O.I, they won't be riding down a gravel path. They'll recall where the paved road is with the lights and signs which leads to a structured explanation of T.O.I and brings to the conscious mind that which they are only beginning to discover semi- consciously.

Substantial improvement will take "thinking outside the box"

You have good insight my friend.

Many of the players that come to me are on the verge of quitting pool entirely. They have tried the conventional methods with little or no success. While I've always said TOI is not for everyone, I can also say with certainly that the conventional methods are only for a small percentage of players who want to get past a 5/7 rating.

Everyone has what it takes to reach two or three more levels in their games, although it will take "thinking outside the box" and TOI may be just what is needed to play the game you always thought you could. I train players on a weekly basis that are playing better now than they ever though possible. 'The TOI Game is our Teacher'

it will not fill you up or quench your appetite.

You actually have to practice TOI on a pool table to know if it works or not.....doing an "online lesson" is like watching the cooking channel when you're hungry.....it may be entertaining, but it will not fill you up or quench your appetite.

When someone actually "clicks" with the touch of inside there's no doubt that they'll continue using it.....it's like sex, drugs and rock and roll - you can't just do it once. ;)

You don't read too well.

I said it works. I said I can see how it could help others.

It's just not my cup of my tea. Sorry bud.

your pool knowledge

It's not my reading, it's the comments - your pool knowledge is....well, let's just say "questionable".

I'm trying to stay positive, bud. ;)

we haven't even begun to promote the technique to the general public.

The aiming subforum isn't enough? Maybe a subforum inside of the aiming subforum?

TOI isn't an "aiming system" so it wouldn't be correct to place it there. I think it's good to just let nature take it's course and as more and more players find out about TOI they will determine where the information ends up.

I respond to at least a hundred emails a week and many of them are TOI related.....and we haven't even begun to promote the technique to the general public. We have a TV show in the works that may give me the ideal platform to introduce the 'Touch of Inside' to the mainstream "pool playing public".

you will discover an entire "inside" dimension of pool that's in front of your eyes

That's right, just trying TOI for 3 hours will start to give a player a fresh new perspective about the game. Sometimes it's good to just "reshuffle the cards" mentally (so to speak) - just do something different, like they say "doing the same things over and over expecting different results is a form of insanity".....and this applies to many pool games.

Once your subconscious starts to process the 'Touch of Inside' you will discover an entire "inside" dimension of pool that's been there all along (right in front of your eyes).

"We only recognize what we're familiar with" - I suggest becoming familiar with TOI, it's free, and what can you gain? A whole new outlook towards pocket billiards is possible.

If a sub-forum was created every time someone had a subject which was praised and bashed within the same thread and someone felt the topic was worthy of expanded discussion with hopefully less cynical posts, there's be a sub-forum created. There would be new sections added all the time and the Forum would become even more disjointed.

Someone mentioned something about aiming systems perhaps being a better suited subsection. If I am mistaken, then let's think about it now......you could include the diamond system which I find most pool players don't understand. Sure they some learn 3 rail tracks but most people don't understand the different values for different rail kick shots as it applies 1, 2 & 3 rails and the short rail and long rail. I think if the topic was broadened to include all aiming methods, or any new ideas, or tips, TOI would fit into that.

But don't get me wrong, I am not in favor of a new sub forum for TOI or even any aiming systems. The current Forum structure and various categories seems to cover everything just fine in my opinion.

This is actually the way I was taught to play the game long ago & far away. Reading some of these responses is almost comical. Playing this way isn't an aiming system at all, it's a different way of playing the game. Understanding how to use all parts of the pocket, throwing balls, using deflection to your advantage as some of us came up in the game before LD shafts. Most of all hitting almost all shots the same & utilizing the natural position that comes out of it. When my father taught me to play this way over 35 years ago he called it KISS, keep it simple stupid. If you ever watch truly great players, they keep it simple.

"you have to be willing to give it away to keep it"

I agree, the forum is fine the way it is.

My days are limited here anyway, just giving away as much as I can before my extra "forum time" is taken......the rule is "you have to be willing to give it away to keep it"....and such is life - 'The Game is the Teacher'

Very Zen, also very true. If this forum lost you to other endeavors it truly would be a loss, the value of what you are trying to impart through TOI is immense.

We don't need to send TOI to the sub-forum dungeon. Except for a handful of bashers, many here follow these threads and learn. I try not to post in threads I disagree with or when I don't care for the poster who starts them. The needling here is like being back in high school where somebody interrupts the class to get some attention.

It's getting to the point that I skim past certain posters when they pop up in these threads. They contribute nothing except ridicule and opposition to every point made, whether it is a definition of a minute point or even the use of the language. TOI then gets put on the back burner and a debate kills the thread...which was their intent in the first place out of spite.

I wouldn't blame you if you stopped posting, CJ. You've taken the heat for as long as you've posted, here. Why it has to be this way, I don't know. I can say that it's definitely on a personal level with several posters who interrupt each and every thread with their "innocent" comments.

I want to thank you for the time and energy you've given this forum for the past several years. I've learned and improved with your instruction and hope to meet you some day. I know I'm in the majority when I say that the forum would like to see you keep posting. And thanks for TOI!

Best,
Mike

In other words, you don't want an open forum. You want it censored to where only those that agree with you and CJ are allowed to post. No dissenting opinions. If that's what you want, get off of here and just go to facebook. And, you are very wrong about the majority on here. But, I know you won't believe that either, so go ahead with your delusions.

Thanks, Colonel, I have always been told we have to "use it or lose it," and this I find true with my pool knowledge. Some teachers think there's only one way to play, others, like myself believe there's many ways to play....however, there's also common denominators that the champion players use and others seem to ignore.

The reason I first came on this forum was to fill a void and share how I utilize systems and techniques passed down for many years by professional gamblers, hustlers, and tournament champions....usually in complete private. Most of my mentors are either retired, passed away, or focused on other things now so I'm not violating any "code".

The more I share the truth of my experiences with pool, the more my life seems to be enhanced. Sure there's those that want to "steal light," and this it true in life no matter what we do or where we go.....after all "even on the sunniest days we are constantly followed by a shadow" .....and so it is.

I don't see any of that going on around here! Right Neil?

Enjoy learning on this site

I've learned more from CJ than any other on this forum. I've tried and tried his TOI and it finally fell into place after countless hours of practice and I am delighted with the advancement my playing ability has gained as a result of his (and mine) efforts. I do not use TOI on every shot by any means. But I've learned where to use it and I very seldom miss a shot now when using TOI.

I also understand the need to use precision in the language finitely describing "side" as a need to have a precise way to differentiate between "side" and "English".

I also enjoy and learn from every one on this forum and am very grateful for all the participation; pro and con.
